“Won't stay again”

Ramada Hotel Toronto Airport

We stayed one night at this hotel, before catching an early morning flight, and it was awful. I booked because of the $89.00 rate and the 24 hour airport shuttle but will pay more next time to stay at another hotel. The front desk staff wasn't very friendly, or helpful...and the hotel in general was just terrible.

We had to walk a mile to get to our room and when we got there, we were greeted by a bunch of 20-something guys, who were eating pizza and drinking beer (the boxes and empty cans were left in the hallway overnight). Some were in the hallway talking on cell phones. Apparently, it was quite the night for them! They were quite loud and at 10:30pm, I called the front desk but they didn't seem to worried about it.

We were on the ground floor of the hotel. When we walked in our room, it was large enough and the king sized bed looked comfortable, but the huge, wall-sized window didn't have curtains that covered the sheers, and with the room being on the main floor and with the light right outside the window, I'm sure the people of Etobicoke loved watching us get undressed/dressed. I'm also sure the young party-guy from up the hall loved watching us sleep (I opened my eyes at one point and there was someone outside our window).

The closet had mirrored doors. Part of it had cracked to the maintenance crew got out there duck tape to fix that problem up. That added to the ambience of the entire hotel...

Since the king sized bed looked so comfortable, and I was dead tired, I got into bed, only to discover that there was no fitted sheet on the mattress but just a regular sheet tucked in. Normally, that would be fine but I think this sheet was queen sized. As soon as we got into bed, it came loose on all sides (and since the room didn't seem overly clean, the last thing I wanted to do was actually touch the mattess with any part of my body!).

I had arranged for the airport shuttle to pick us up at 5:30 am (but specifically declined a wake up call since I had my travel alarm clock). At 5:10 am, a man from the front desk called and told us to be at the front desk by 5:25 so the van could leave on time. I didn't understand why he had to call. I guess we looked like the type that would keep the shuttle driver waiting...or maybe they knew we hardly got any sleep due to the noise up the hall and figured they'd make sure we were awake.

I usually try to find the positive in all things travel-related since I know things don't always go perfect. This Ramada hotel had absolutely nothing good about it. I can't recommend it and will never stay there again.

The room was not clean. Heating was less to be desired..no fan in bathroom, shower didn't work and cleaning staff woke u up to clean your room. No batteries in tv remote control and front desk staff were not friendly.

Stayed here way back before it was a Ramada. That experience was less than enjoyable. I decided to try it out because of the relative rates at the other hotels near the airport were a little higher and thought I'd give the Ramada people a shot.

I must say that Ramada did a pretty good job cleaning up the hotel and the staff was pleasant. The free shuttle to and from the airport was a bonus and the rooms somehow looked and felt bigger than the other hotel's that I've stayed at. The lobby restaurant's food was good too.

I think this hotel may give you more bang for the buck and one of the front desk staff mentioned that parking is free, so less money out of pocket for those driving. All in all, not a bad place.

“An O.k. Place...”

This is the only hotel that we found near the airport that was pet friendly and therefore was a natural choice. Our stay, though short (1 day) was all in all o.k. What we really liked was that it was located in a great space for a dog! There was a ton of green dog walking space around the hotel and ample garbage cans too! And the neighbourhood also had great boulevards! Great for dog walking!

We also really loved the pools, they have an indoor and outdoor pool!
However, the pool area in general wasn't very clean! The sauna was terribly littered with all sorts of garbage from candy wrappers to cigarettes to pop cans! Also we found it odd that the pop machines in the hotel only used special tokens that you had to buy from the front desk, but when we went to ask, the front desk told us that they didn't have any, they are all gone! An inconvenience for sure! The staff wasn't particularly friendly and many of them could not speak English very well either.

However when booking this hotel always make sure to make your reservation online through one of the many companies offering great rates. At first we called and booked over the phone and they wanted to charge us $199/night, we then looked online and found the same rooms for just $79/night! So we cancelled our phone reservation, booked online and everything went smoothly with that! We got the $79/night price just like we'd booked online!
