“An unsuitable property for B&B”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Paper-thin wall, creaking floor boards, tired decor and a low standard of cleanliness ... not a comfortable stay. Being able to hear every movement and conversation of other guests staying in the neighbouring rooms was the worst experience. In reality, the property was completely unsuitable as a bed and breakfast venue, and certainly overpriced for the standard of accommodation offered.
Modern decor was not a requirement, but pristine cleanliness was - unfortunately, this B&B fell very short of the mark.
Breakfast was good, but we were 'requested' to attend at an early hour, which made the stay something of a 'boot-camp' experience.
We were not expecting 4-star hotel standards, but having stayed in other B&S's in Scotland, without a doubt, this B&B was a very, very poor example.

We stayed here for 5 nights and found the welcome from Margaret and Gerry exceeded our expectations, we found everywhere very clean and no cobwebs! we were in room 4 but the door to room 5 was open so we totally disagree with the previous comments and suspect pictures! The food was superb we had Breakfast every morning and were given 4 lovely home cooked evening meals. The views from the dining room and lounge windows were stunning and made our holiday. We definitely will go back again and have every intention of doing so.

We can agree with everything in the review on here 15th July, just wished we had seen it before we booked. We also had the misfortune to be in room 5 and judging by the photos we had the remains of the same soap dispenser! We got the impression that everything was done on the cheap and at £75 per night cheap it wasn't! A big disappointment definitely the worst place we stayed in whilst touring Scotland,we stayed in far nicer places which charged a lot less. The only good thing about it was its fabulous location near Plockton and its surrounding areas. We would not recommend it to other travellers and we would not go back.

As we were looking for accomodation near Isle of Skye we came accross Braentra junction. We saw a B&B sign thus we decided to follow until we reached at Soluis Mu Thuath. We found vacancy and were accomodated by Margaret as she showed us the En Suite room. It was very nice just the way we wanted it. We found everything in good hygiene and she was changing the bedsheets every day as we stayed for three nights. In the morning we had first class breakfast while enjoying the views onto the mountains.
Gerry and Margaret were very sociable and helpful regarding directions to see places.
They are doing really well. We enjoyed being with them and recommend other visitors to experience this cosy and quiet place. Thank you very much! God willing we will visit again.

We booked a family room for 2 adults and 1 child. This cost us £100 . On arrival we were dismayed to find a mattress on the floor for our child to sleep on. We were in room 5.

There is no way this room should be classed as a family room. The room was covered in cobwebs, which must have taken months of no dusting. We were able to write our name on the mirror, lampshades, and bedside tables.

The bathroom had even larger cobwebs!!
There were holes in the bath towels as well as dark orange stains. There was a pitiful amount of hand wash.

The room was damp and our child was cold- we could not put the spare blanket on the bed as it was very old and looked as if there could be insects living in it, so our child had to sleep with her socks on.

Heating pipes are running up the wall and no effort has been made to box them in or cover them up. There is no clock in the room, no t.v which for £100 you would expect. There are very basic minimal tea and coffee facilities, however there were only 2 cups provided. No drinking glasses were provided.

We took photographs of the cobwebs and staff at the tourist information centre who booked this accomodation for us were shocked!!!!

If you want to feel like you are staying at a "home away from home", this B&B is for you. I am giving it 5 stars because of the fabulous hospitality of Margaret and Gerry, the tranquility of the property and the size of the rooms. We liked the accommodations so much that we actually extended our stay. Both hosts happily answered any questions my husband and I had and correctly advised us on a trip to Applecross and other destinations. The house was very quiet (which my husband and I were looking for), the breakfast was gorgeous and the view from the dining room windows was even better. If you want noise, aloof hosts and wifi, I would advise you to stay elsewhere. Honestly I was very happy to not look at my computer for a few days. Try it....you won't regret it...it is a great place to recharge.

Myself and my partner were looking for a place to stay near the Isle of Skye and was told about Soluis Mu Thuath through recommendation.
We arrived late at night but this wasnt a problem, we were made to feel very welcome the rooms clean and spacious and also very comfortable.
We just went down for breakfast in our own time in the morning and it was lovely and relaxing, the breakfast was excellent.
This is in a very quiet location with amazing views every way you look.
Thanks for a great stay!
