“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Stayed at this lovely small hotel on New Year's Eve 2013. I would highly recommend anyone staying in the surrounding areas in Norfolk including Swaffham to stay here. We only stayed for one night as we were visiting in Swaffham. Had a twin bed room, of which the beds were so comfortable. We had an evening meal here, again both were excellent value for £9.95 each. Drinks were reasonably priced. The proprieters Carol and Roger run this place so well that when we are up in the summer we will definitely book in here. Also a thank you to Rob, Carols son for kindly driving us into Swaffham and back on New Year's Eve.
It was so peaceful here that we slept in more than we ever would at home.
A LITTLE GEM IN BEACHAMWELL

Room Tip: Had a triple bed In an annexe. Plenty of room

We were met by Rob , a very friendly and welcoming landlord, who kept us entertained throughout our stay. Loved the shower which was spacious , and the bedroom was very clean and comfortable. We had a good meal in the restaurant/ pub, and we loved the friendly informality of the place, vey relaxing. Breakfast was very good, and all in all a very enjoyable stay.We would certainly stay there again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We were attending a wedding in Norfolk therefore booked two nights in The Great Danes Inn. Overall I would say that this place is clean and the beds are comfortable however I would not choose to stay here again. Firstly there is absolutely nothing to do surrounding it and the pub has zero atmosphere - we were the only customers in there that evening! The woman who owns it was quite miserable if I am honest and sort of made you feel like you were imposing on her by staying there. For example we met with friends in the corridor of the B&B and she made a comment that we were in her way, we felt like naughty school children! Her son who helps her run it however was very and was making conversation, he seemed to be the one who made all the effort with any of the guests.

Food:
We had dinner there the evening before the wedding and it was okay, basic oven cooked food really and not much choice, breakfast included in the rates was written as a 'continental breakfast' although this actually was just bread which you toasted yourself, cereal and a few different jams. That was fine for us but just to be aware that if you are thinking there is going to be an array of pastries etc then you will be disappointed.

Room:
Room is small but there is a television, clean big double bed, tea and coffee facilities and the bathroom was clean with a good shower. There was no shampoo or conditioner and when I asked if I could be provided with any complimentary toiletries I was told that I was in a B&B not a hotel. I was however given a box to look through myself with what looked like samples out of magazines of various creams etc although no conditioner which I needed desperately! The rooms are very close together and almost felt like you were on top of the other guests, you could hear everything the other rooms were saying or doing.

Be aware there is ZERO reception for your phone which is so annoying but obviously not the B&B's fault, but it is something to consider as we were trying to get in touch with friends staying at other hotels and it was impossible.

It is a small B&B and does the job if all you want is literally somewhere to sleep and with not many hotels or B&B's in the area you don't have much choice but to stay there. If you do have another option though I would go with it because it didn't really feel like you were paying guests it felt like you were in the way. Sorry!

This is the second time I have stayed here and I am sitting wondering why !!!
We had agreed on booking that we would have a selection of 2 rooms on arrival only to be told "you have no option now"
They don't seem bothered if they had custom or not !
And when a guest was told that it would cost to rectify the tv arial and that added an extra £10 pn on top of £80 in the middle of nowhere who's kidding

Service atrocious from start to finish. As regular travellers with 3 children (two 9mth old babies) we regularly book triple rooms (as the babies need only floor space as we bring own cots). I don't expect to be charged 40% of the room rate in addition and zero explanation given as to what that charge is for. My wife doesn't need to be commented at that it would be good to "keep the noise down" at breakfast and I don't need to hear stories at breakfast about how the barman stayed up at night drinking. We, along with our family, are regular visitors to RAF Marham monthly and will not be recommending this B&B to any friends or colleagues.

Just returned from a 4 night stay, and had a great time. Accommodation very high standard, host and hostess absolutely lovely, very knowledgeable on area, and gave great advise on where to go for great days out. Food great in restaurant, and buffet breakfast substantial, choice of 9 cereals!! To say the least.
