“this visit was a disappointment”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2014

We have stayed at the Red Pine before and were happy with the room/ service. Not this time. The Inn was busy. Our reservation got messed up somehow and they were not prepared for us on the day we arrived. To the staff's credit they shuffled rooms and found a room for us. Unfortunately it was not nice. The carpet was stained. The unit smelled of old cigarette smoke and something else. There was a cigarette ash container right outside the room and I think any smoldering cig smoke came in thru the air conditioner. There was some maintenance work in progress that never did get finished in our 2 night stay. We paid way too much for the room.
We have always stayed in the two storey unit before and liked those rooms.
On a positive note the restaurant did a great breakfast and the blond waitress was so very helpful and efficient.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the rooms attached to the restaurant, behind the pool building.

We srtayed at the Red Pine Inn on May 24 for one night was found the hotel to be a good value. A wedding brought us to Alliston and we found the hotel on Tripadvisor. The room was very clean and spacious, bed was comfortable and the service from the front desk was friendly and fast. The hotel has a clean pool and a well priced resteraunt on site( we did not use but were told it was good food at a good price) We paid a little over $130.00 and found it a little high however it was the best price of all the hotels in the area we needed to be close to. Overall wde would recommed this hotel if you find your self in the Alliston area.

Room Tip: ask for the 500 block

Recently I stayed at the Red Pine Inn & Conference Centre and I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the accommodations. The Motel’s outer appearance will leave you a little concerned of where you booked but the rooms themselves are not all that bad. The beds are very comfortable and the linen was nice. As someone who works in the Hospitality Industry I do have higher standards than the average traveller, but the Red Pine Inn seems to be doing a great job.

Front desk staff was indifferent, remember a smile goes a long way!

We stayed there with our hockey team in January 2014. The rooms were nice, well equipped and clean. The restaurant had amazing food - great prices. Rebecca was our server and she was an absolute sweetheart. The General Manager, Alex, was very personable. The gym is outstanding. Would definitely recommend this inn for any type of stay - and especially for families. Thank you for making our time there so enjoyable!

Room Tip: Don't think of looking anywhere else for a hockey tournament in Alliston. Great location to the...

We eat there when traveling thru Alliston and find their soups to be perfect. Pleasant dining room and friendly staff trying to please. The sandwiches are great, not your average bread but nice buns etc. Just a real nice place to eat.

The pool in this place is pathetic. I go there as a member and spent over $700;for me.and my husband for the year and this winter we have not been able to use it hardly at all due to the sliding doors being so old they let in so much cold air the pool area is to cold to even stay there long. The so called heated pool is not heated, the water is like icicles. There answer to trying to keep it warm is put plastic over the doors. The hockey teams r there on the weekends in the winter and the kids pee in the hot tub so it ends being closed the next day and the members r the ones that suffer. These r just a few of the issues me and my husbnd and few of the memebers have to deal with at this place cause the owners r to cheap to do repairs and spend money to fix the place up. So my advise is if u r looking for a place to get a membership go to the nottawasaga inn rec centre it is truly a heated pool. The hot tub is even better than the red pines it is way bigger.

RPI2011, Manager at Red Pine Inn & Conference Centre, responded to this review, March 20, 2014
We attempted to contact the tripadvisor member to address her complaints, but the poster has refused contact.

The Red Pine Inn monitors their pool and hot tub facilities on a constant basis.
As many Canadians can appreciate with the temperatures outside dropping to -30 Fahrenheit or colder, it is a challenge to maintain comfortable room temperature especially in a glass enclosed building.

Temperature and humidity in the winter are a particular problem with glass. Given the average 50 degree variance between inside and out, we feel we have successfully managed to ensure our guests’ comfort which we feel is more important than aesthetics.

Guest comfort and health and safety are always our priority. As for the pool itself, our pool temperature is set for 82 degrees Fahrenheit. Records indicate that despite extreme outside temperatures, the pool has not dipped below 79 degrees Fahrenheit at any point this winter.

With respect to the hot tub complaint – that is just plain silly. Any time someone urinates in a hot tub at our resort or any other resort, the tub must be cleaned and sanitized.Yes, it is inconvenient when guests cannot use the hot tub, but cleanliness is more important.

The Red Pine Inn feels our guests appreciate clean water.

Recently stayed here for a hockey tournament. We were put into the old row style part of the hotel/motel and immediately requested to be put into the newer part with our team. DO NOT book a room in the old area it is horrendous! Our room was clean in the newer part, but a couple of the other families were not so lucky. The price of the rooms is way overpriced, they should be $50-$60 a night! We had decided as a team to have dinner at the restaurant as it was wing night, we even called ahead so they were aware as to how many people were coming and most would want the wings. What a fiasco! Families waited anywhere from 2 - 2 1/2 hours to be served, and still did not receive our complete orders. They were the worst chicken wings we have ever eaten, they tasted like they had been cooked and then recooked. The waitress' were fighting with each other because they were overwhelmed. Then decided to yell at us because they messed up our orders. To access the pool you have to go outside not a great idea in the middle of the winter. Just poor management!

Room Tip: Do not take a room in the old row style buildings

RPI2011, General Manager at Red Pine Inn & Conference Centre, responded to this review, March 11, 2014
Dear guest,

Thank you for your recent stay and your feedback.

We are sorry to hear that your experience at our hotel was not a pleasant one.

We wish you would have brought the issue to the Manager on Duty during your dinner, and we could have rectified the issue immediately. We are surprised to hear that your wings were overcooked, as many of your team members were praising the chicken wings and thanked the kitchen staff at the end of the night.

I would have taken the liberty to call you and discuss the issue after reading your review, but unfortunately your name was not in our system.

Again, thank you for staying at the Red Pine Inn.
