“Jordan & Dave kept this place running smooth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2008

We were a little hesitant at first to stick around, as there were no tables to be had when we walked in. But, the staff (Jordan and Dave) were very up-front on the expected wait, and we decided to stick around and eat at the bar. This was the best decision we could have made. Jordan and Dave were absolutely amazing with the way that they handled the crowd and made sure everyone was taken care of. Despite the fact that they were flying around the restaurant trying to keep up with all the tables, they took every bit of it in stride and with an absolutely amazing attitude. They know how to do their jobs about as well as I could imagine. They both deserve a raise! As for the food, it was also very good and had some unique twists, although the prices are a little steep. This place gets busy, so higher-maintenance baby-boomer types (of which we counted a few) may get frustrated with the wait despite the honest and good-natured staff. But, for anyone else, a visit is highly recommended if you find yourself in Field.

“Best place on the transcanada”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2008

I've eaten in many places in my travels, and this place tops them all. I found them while on a charity motorcycle trip, and have made special trips back since. I actually drove with a friend, 5 hours each way, just for dinner. It's that good. I promise.

“Gourmet retreat off Trans Canada 1”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2008

After over 125 miles of backpacking, my wife and I happened upon an oasis in Field, BC, just off Trans Canada 1. European in design and rustic in appeal, the tightly packed restaurant boasts the finest cuisine we found in the entire Canadian National Park system, with finely roasted meats, pastas, and a fair wine list to accompany our eats. While our palates may have dulled from two weeks of noshing on trail mix and dehydrated backpacking food, and perhaps nostalgia from this meal clouds my most objective judgment, just do yourself a facor: Stop in for dinner. Not only that: Do not get distracted by the larger, more comfortable digs immediately across the street. Nobody there looked happy on their way out the door.

Another wonderful touch was that while we waited for our table, the hostess brought us frosty mugs of beer while we waited on their outside patio.

I could not recommend a place higher.
