“Nice but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Stayed in a number of hotels/inns/B & B during our vacation to Nova Scotia. There were 3 of us and this was actually the most expensive place that we booked but one of the least favorite. The room had 2 doubles but one you could just get out on one side. The room itself was on the small side compared to what we had at other spots throughout. It was clean. Very limited on street parking around this location.

I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at our establishment as you and we would have expected. I totally agree that this particular room with 2 double beds is a bit small for 3 guests. Our rates are compared to similar accommodations in town, average. Compared to other properties in Nova Scotia they might be higher. We are living in Lunenburg, which offers a lot more than other communities. This might make the difference. Our rates did not increase over the last 3 years.Best Regards, Eva Ziegler

I stayed here for 5 nights during the Folk Harbour Festival (which was superb!). I had room 303 which included a balcony, an extraordinarily comfortable bed, TV, radio alarm, fridge, and tea/coffee which was replenished every day . The Inn is very well maintained and clean and has an elevator as well as a small lounge on each floor offering books and magazines. Parking is difficult during the high season, but the side street by the Inn has no meters and there is also a small space for 3 cars in a private drive around the corner. Parking is manageable if you check things out and play it smart. You are offered a $3.00 voucher to help pay for breakfast at the cafe next door.
This is not a luxury inn, but it's good value and the location is excellent.

Room Tip: Choose a balcony room.

We had looked on Trip Advisor for suggestions and this came up as a possiblity. We stayed in 302...room had a king size bed (very comfortable) and this room fronted the street scape and had a small balcony for us to unwind in the evenings and have a glass of wine and read. The room was a bit small but very comfortable. You need to park on the streets, but this is to be expected in a world heritage sites...no parking lots, which makes complete sense. We lucked out and snagged a side street spot that allowed us to stay meter free. The breakfast was very good in the attached restaurant and coupons were offered for a discount. You are in the center of town and the center of all activities. Next time in Lunenburg...we will stay here for sure!

Room Tip: Room 302....balcony and king bed!

This was a nice place to stay, and had all the bare necessities. The room was fine, but unremarkable. The front desk employees were nice and helped with a few questions. The location is unbeatable - just a minute from the water, really, and on the same street as all the popular businesses. Everything is within five minutes walking time. There is no parking lot, however, so you will need to find an unmetered spot.

My husband and I just stayed here for two nights on our east coast trip. We found Lunenburg to be super cute, idealic and packed full of nice people and tasty food. The inn is not comparable to a fancy hotel in the least as the rooms are small and plain with older tvs and small bathrooms. I didn't care for the extremely floral decor, the loud wall AC or the peeling wall paper, but we found those things insignificant when you take into account the town setting of the inn. we found it to be a good place to stay in order to get the full experience of this lovely town. The king bed was one of the comfiest beds I have ever slept in and the location was excellent. We didn't have a need to move our car during our entire stay. The woman at the front seemed to indicate that parking might be hard to find (during the folk harbor festival) but we didn't have a problem which was great. The price was a little more than I would typically feel the stay was worth, but we did stay during peak season and I'm not sure if the prices were inflated a little due to the festival? But overall it was a relaxing and comfortable stay

Last week, we spent one night at the Smuggler's Cove Inn. It was the second Inn we stayed at in Lunenburg as we wanted to be down by the water. Great location and very comfortable beds. We didn't have a reservation and got a great oceanview room during the Tall Ships festivals. Only downside was there is very little parking and lucked out getting a parking spot in the inn's four parking stall parking lot down the street.

Loved how close we were to restaurants, the harbour, and the fisheries museum.

We spent one night at Smuggler's Cove and had two rooms. The Inn is in a fantastic location and is clean and pleasant but it isn't in any way charming or unique or particularly wonderful in any way. There is no parking and no place to unload your luggage. Check in was fine. Room rate included $3 coupon per person at Scuttlebutt restaurant next door -- friendly service providing what you didn't order. Hotel seemed expensive relatively speaking and there were lots of alternatives nearby with vacancies even on a July Saturday night. I would investigate the other options.
