Such a lovely old house. Very clean. Our room had a queen size bed and a full spacious ensuite. The guest living room had television, dvd player (with a variety of movies). There were games and even a piano. Rhe breakfast was wonderful with lots of fresh fruit and great coffee. Crepes was the main course. The hosts were wonderful and very informative with plenty of tourist recommendations. It was a great stay.

We spent a night at the 1826Maplebird with hosts Barry and Susie. The house is obviously old (from the name) but doesn't feel like it in terms of comfort. Our room was clean and, though not spacious (it's an old house) large enough for two of us and our many bags. Comfortable bed and modern bath fixtures. But the highlight was the breakfast: home baked scones, a delicious fruit bowl with optional yoghurt, dry cereal and French toast. We were delighted with the French toast. Great presentation, flavor and crispness! Barry handles the business end, Susie runs the kitchen.

Barry and Susie go to great lengths to make their home welcoming and comfortable to guests, and breakfast is excellent. The location is perfect for visiting all the sites in, and around, Lunenburg, and despite being right in the hub of the town, the garden is a haven of tranquillity.

Great place, great location, great hosts. Sorry that we couldn't have stayed longer to find out our hosts' real personalities. We know now why people should spend more than one night in Lunenburg. Was fun visiting with Barry on his veranda & meeting Susie for breakfast, which was super. Fun meeting people from England & Switzerland. Thanks for the advice on the Fishery's Museum & the route to Peggy's Cove. Worked out real well. If ever in the the area again would for sure stay. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay. Susie & Barry make you feel vary welcome. Breakfast was great as well. Anything you want to know about Lunenburg, Ask Barry.
If It happens to be raining, Settle down in the reading room with a book. It will probably turn into a nap. Its that sort of comfortable place.

Room Tip: They are all comfortable.

On the recommendation of the local "tourist information office," we found this charming home to be more than we could have hoped for. The hosts, Barry and Susie, were very welcoming and offered helpful suggestions about local sites. The weather was rainy on our first day so we spent a little time sightseeing as well as resting and enjoying the home. It is beautifully decorated - the architectural details are flawless. The home is well appointed and CLEAN. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The location is well within the downtown area and within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, the waterfront, and other entertainment options. We hope to return soon!

Room Tip: WE took the last room available, and looking at the website, it was just as nice as any of the other...

We recently stayed at this delightful B & B in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. A beautiful old home and Susie and Barry were wonderful hosts. They prepared a wonderful breakfast for us and gave us detailed maps and instructions to explore the town and surroundings. What an interesting town!!!
Lovely old home with gorgeous furniture. Short walk to all the sites!! If you're going to visit this UNESCO World Heritage Site, then you must stay in a B & B like the Maplebird House. I'm certainly glad that we did!!!
