“welcome to nova scotia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This very clean, very friendly little establishment is everything I am proud of as a Nova Scotian. It represents us so well. Quiet, peaceful, the ocean at your doorstep - well across the road, The housekeeping units are well equipped and very functional. The area behind the motel with the duck pond is a super plus. The opportunity for a fire in their designated area on the beach is another excellent addition. Squeaky clean, well equipped, extremely attractive units at an amazing price. A big 'E" for excellent!

(I would like to have added a photo but that feature isn't working)

Room Tip: If you want just a motel room the last one on the end of the motel is so attractive.

Loved our overnight stay at the Atlantic View motel. Yes it it short on supplies but I prefer clean over tissues and lotions. Nice view and seating outside the rooms. Also liked the fact that the floors were not carpeted. The bathroom was spotless. The breeze from the water was wonderful. Will be back if I am in the area again

Just stayed here a few nights ago with my husband and teen son. We arrived on a foggy afternoon and enjoyed exploring the bay just across the street. Weloved the animals! There's an osprey nest, with babies, a pond that is interestingly separated from the sea by mere feet, lots of songbirds, frogs, aquatic birds on the shore, and even a little family of muskrats. The proprietor, Heidi, was always available, accommodating, and friendly, and her butch of bunnies was a real draw to the other kids at the motel.

There is a laundry room available to guests, which is easy to access, and had soaps and drier sheets. The rooms are spic and span, towels laundered as you need them (it seems to be a "green" establishment), adirokndack chairs outside all the rooms and cottages which have a great view of the bay.

One real drawback for us was that the wi fi seemed to be available only from OUtSIDe the room. Our neighbors on both sides had the same issue. My husband spent a couple hours, therefore, sitting in the car at night doing things online that he should have been able to do from the comfort of our motel room bed. My son stood by the motel room door, but that didn't help.

As for ambiance, you can't ask for anything more authentic than experiencing an incredibly foggy night with the faint sound of a lighthouse horn guiding ships into port all night. I rather iked this. It only happened one night though.

All in all, it's a good establishment and you get a comfortable room and a peaceful setting for a fair price.

It's been a few years now, since we were there, (so the date checked is not accurate).
What a lovely place!. The cottage was spotless and beautifully decorated - not the old standard white sheets! Indeed, there was that charming "Swiss" feel.
We had a lovely spot overlooking Rose's Bay.
The cottage we stayed in was a 2-bed, small, yet well used space - we even had a little kitchen/dining area - we cooked fresh lobsters and sat outside to eat them. We stayed 2 nights and if time would have allowed, we would have been happy to spend a whole week there.
The location was slightly off the main drag, so to speak, yet not far from downtown - perfect.
Heidi & Alex, the owners...so welcoming and accommodating - lovely people. Hope to go back again in the future and stay a little longer.

Stayed in nice clean cottage. Very handy to the centre of town & only a short drive to many other scenic areas of the South Shore of NS. Would highly recommend Atlantic View.

Our family was so delighted with our stay at the Atlantic View Cottages. The view and setting is amazing! Only a small scenic walk to the centre of Lunenburg with breathtaking views onto the ocean and harbours from our door step. The cabins were cozy, neat and clean, meticulously kept, and very comfortably furnished in a charming swiss manner. There is a certain swiss attention and simple refinement that makes you respect the place, its owners, and keeps you coming home. We cannot wait to return!
And not to forget the kids. They loved the space, running and playing around the property and at the beach. They will remember our stay at Atlantic View forever.

Thanks Heidi and Alex for a great stay. Your pleasantness and cheerful hearts with welcome made our stay all the more memorable.

My husband and I stayed in the end cottage at this property. The cottage was simple but spacious and clean. It offered a small front porch, eating area, bathroom and kitchen. It was mainly all one room. We found the location very convenient as it was close to downtown Lunenburg. The staff gave us helpful recommendations for dining in the area. Our stay here was short but we would choose this location again for Lunenburg. I didn't see the inside of the motel units, but I don't think those would be as nice as the small cottages.

Room Tip: Stay in the cottages instead of the motel units.
