Late last month, we stayed at the J.W. Marriott resort, The Rosseau (our third time!), and enjoyed their two restaurants, but wanted variety. We discovered that The Rock, a Nick Faldo golf course across the road, had it's own lovely grill and patio serving both lunch and dinner, so we tried it for lunch the day we left. My husband and I had delicious sandwich-salad combinations. The portions were generous and filling. (The very fresh bread was from a new local bakery in a picturesque little church nearby, down by the marina on Lake Rosseau.) The bartender mixes a mean cocktail too -- for me, not my husband, who was driving! The young serving staff were enthusiastic and friendly without being overly so. Anyone can eat at this restaurant -- you don't have to be a golfer! (I'm not -- yet, anyway.) We've booked another couple of days at The Rosseau in early July and we plan to try The Rock Grill and Patio's tempting dinner menu -- maybe a steak from that Grill!! This is a welcome change from the small choice of eating establishments in Muskoka that aren't attached to a resort or hotel. We'll be regulars when we visit Muskoka two or three times a year, and the place deserves to be discoverd by more visitors to the area, cottagers and year-round residents. Perhaps it could use a more noticeable sign on the road...and maybe a Facebook and/or Twitter account to spread the word!
