My family and I just returned after 2 nights at the wonderful JW Marriott. This was our first time in the summer and we truly enjoyed the pool, outdoor water park, and kayaks. If you so desire, there is a pontoon boat trip around the lake as well as water-skiing, paddle boards or simply boating. The hotel also provides a variety of activities for all age groups. A list of activities is posted in the front lobby as well as a list is given to you upon check-in. Yoga classes for a nominal fee is available at the marina. I wish we knew before hand!

Our family had a 1-bedroom suite, facing the lake. The room is equipped with a 2-burner stove top and a microwave. Dishes and cutlery for 4 along with cooking utensils, pots and pans and serving dishes. If you wish more you need only ask housekeeping. A dishwasher comes with the suite. As does a small fridge. A wonderful king size bed with a pull-out queen sofabed. A gas fireplace and a large balcony. A large bathroom with shower and tub. The Suite was large and very spacious.

Staff are very accommodating, kind and willing to always help.

The grounds are wonderfully kept. Wild turkeys wander around the property which is fun! It is also very common to see deer around the property and along the road. There are plenty of hikes one can take just from front door of the hotel. The concierge can give you a map of some of the trails. Or if you simply wish to sit around the pool (there are 2 pools) the lake is wonderful. The hotel also provides Muskoka Chairs around the property infront of the lake, so you can take a coffee and sit and people watch. The hotel also has a spa which we didn't partake in this time around.

We ate at Cottages in the hotel which is always fabulous. We also had lunch at Dukes at Cleveland's House which located right at the water. Dukes serves great hamburgers, nachos, salads. Don't forget to have the fabulous ice-cream. We had one dinner The Rock. 'Rachel' our waitress was friendly and charming. The food at the Rock was great. Give it a try. Only regret, they had a great Sunday golf package with dinner. They have a few packages so check it out before you go. The golf course is fabulous. And don't miss a stop in at Abbey's in the Marina - for wonderful muffins, scones and coffee.

There is a fire pit in the front of the hotel if your kids love smores bring a box.

A wonderful weekend!

We stay 4 times in 2 years here 2-3 days each time. It s time to share our experience, which is great.

Hotel is in perfect condition, on the best place in Muskoka. View from terrace is to kill for. Try to be there in 7 in the morning , when nobody is there (grab the coffee in cafeteria, they open at 7), and you will enjoy spectacular view and SILENCE. It is unbelievable experience. Hotel staff are friendly, service could be sometimes slow, hotel room are very expensive (cheapest one we paid $427 with all fees for the 1 night in July 2013). Breakfast buffet is ok, restaurants little overpriced.
Pictures will tel you everything else.
Tip for you.
There is 800 meters from hotel (toward Cleveland house, in small marina) Abey bakery situated in small church (it looks like church), you must go there and try butter tart cookies and apple pie, they are spectacular (they are open 10-5 in summer) .
All in all best hotel we been in Canada, and we are going every year 2-3 times.
If you can to afford go there.
Lake Rosseau is the best part of Muskoka, thanks to Marriott is even better now.

Room Tip: If they are out of cheapest room (they still cost $427, they will upgrade you to the better one for...

Although I am a Marriott rewards member and have come to expect great service, the Marriott in Rosseau goes above and beyond in providing it largely because of the excellent staff - from the concierge, to the welcoming door persons, to the reception staff, certainly all waiters and waitresses, and to the housekeeping staff and the spa staff. Nothing is too much trouble for any one of them. They make the hotel guest feel special and wanted. A pleasure to stay here.

Definitely a 5 plus hotel in the heart of Muskoka.

Our family of 4 recently stayed at the Marriott on Lake Rosseau from Sunday to Tuesday. The hotel overlooks Lake Rosseau and the property is gorgeously landscaped. This is still a newer hotel. The rooms are very nicely decorated, bright and clean. We stayed in Paignton House which is not the main building but the building closer to the seasonal pools and the lake. For a family of four we had a one bedroom suite with a lake view and that was a great amount of space for us. The room includes a kitchen with a dishwasher, small refrigerator, a round dining table w/ 4 chairs, a pull out sofa bed, a gas fireplace, a tv in the living area and a second tv in the bedroom. In our suite the bedroom had a king size bed. There were two entrances to the one bathroom. One entrance was just inside the door of the suite and the second entrance was off the bedroom. The bathroom had a nice deep tub, a separate shower stall, double sinks and a toilet area with its own door. The suite also had a balcony with two Muskoka chairs and a view of the seasonal pools and lake.
There are three places to eat at this hotel (plus Abbey's Bake House next door and two restaurants at Cleveland's House on the other side of Abbey's) but we only ate one meal at the Marriott and it was lunch on the patio next to the seasonal pool. The food was good but the atmosphere was rather chaotic. It was busy and there didn't seem to be enough staff. One had to wave down a server to ask for a menu and to have the dirty table wiped clean. They could use a couple of dedicated staff to bus the tables so the servers who are already running around don't have to clear the tables, on top of everything else.
While there is a bar next to the seasonal pools, guests are not allowed to take alcohol around the pool decks so you have to stay by the bar to drink.
There are three different seasonal pools, one is a wading pool for young children, one is a large hot tub and the third is a larger swimming pool. These areas are lovely. The only problem is that once again a shortage of staff means that used/discarded towels, empty glasses and empty/partially empty food baskets are left lying all over the place for lengthy periods of time. We even saw a used/wet baby swim diaper left on a Muskoka chair for hours. On Monday afternoon we watched as a handful of seagulls swooped down for several minutes snacking on food that had clearly been abandoned on one of the pool lounge chairs. There were a few staff members in the vicinity put none took it upon themselves to clear away the leftover food. When you are paying $600+ a night, you would hope that the pool areas are better kept.
WIth so many pools, including an indoor/outdoor pool, one could forget about the lake. There are two small sandy beaches and a couple of inflated water park toys for guests to use. There are also paddle boats, kayaks and water sports for guests to enjoy. Lake Rosseau is stunning!
We will return in the future but next time we will forgo the lake view room. You're not really in your room much during the day anyway.

Room Tip: Room 2202 in Paignton House is a one bedroom suite with views of the seasonal pools and the lake plu...

My wife and I truly enjoyed our stay in Muskoka at The Rosseau, what an amazing hotel and resort. We loved "The Deck" down by the water. Sitting by the pool overlooking the lake while sipping on a refreshing beverage was the best part of a sunny afternoon. Lakes bar in the evening was elegant and classy with a flair for Muskoka. Service was great. One incident involving valuables left by the pool was met by swift service from the Loss Prevention department. Thanks to Tim for double checking and ensuring our valuables were recovered and returned to us within minutes. Great job! Will return again next summer!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room facing the lake! Well worth it.

Great Hotel. Extremely comfortable bed !/hotel room. Breakfasts are great especially outside overlooking the lake. Pool is part indoor and outdoor - awesome.
You definitely need wheels to get around the area as taxi's are extremely RARE. Some great golf courses to play but a little on the high price $$$.
Hotel staff were extremely polite and helpful - this really is a terrific location for a relaxing get away.
