“Very nice and convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2009

Last April, I called the Mont Tremblay Reservation Center for information. The agent I got seemed young and inexperienced but managed to give me the basic information I was seeking. When I called back a week later to reserve, a more experienced agent answered me. She was very patient and seemed to know the site very well. She listed all the special deals and finally I reserved for our group of five adults a small condo for 4 nights (with a 25% rebate for a stay over 3 days). Price: $640, taxes included. At the same time, I bought the activity booklets (with a 15% rebate when bought before the actual stay) to be picked up at the hotel. Price: $187, taxes included. It is worthwhile doing so as all activities (mini-golf, luge, etc) are quite costly when bought separately on site. Within a few minutes of making the reservation, I received the email confirmation.

The Lodge itself was easy to find at the top of the village, near all the main activities. Checking in was a breeze. The receptionist was very professional and offered me five keys (plastic cards) for us all. As she handed me the activity booklets, she also added passes with unlimited access during our stay to the private beach and the chairlift up the mountain. While the hotel has a private indoor parking($), free parking is available at the bottom of the hill. Of course, there is temporary parking right beside the hotel to unload the luggage.

Our condo was situated on the 4th floor. The space serving as a living-room (with sofa-bed)/dining area/kitchen was roomy. The bedroom with 2 double beds and its own t.v. was comfortable. Everything was clean and in order. The bathroom, of standard size, had all the usual amenities: shampoo, lotion, towels, hair dryer, large mirror. In a closet, there was an ironing board and a broom. The kitchen, complete with fridge, stove and dishwasher, was well-equipped with all the necessary utensils, plates, glasses, pots & pans. The balcony was too small, with only room for 2 plastic chairs. The air-conditioning and gas fireplace worked well.

The hotel amenities included an exterior pool (with lifeguard), two Jacuzzis, one sauna, a very small exercise room (one stationary bike and one elliptical trainer) and a pool table. Nearby the reception area, a large living room was open to all guests for reading the daily newspapers. While Internet was available, there was daily fee ($9). Two elevators serviced all floors and a luggage room was available for late departure.

Even thought it was August and the height of the tourist season, the hotel was half-empty due to the economic situation and rainy weather, and therefore very quiet. It definitively was good value for the money. When full during the ski season, the jacuzzis, fitness center and pool table might prove insufficient for a hotel of this size.

Travelling tips

Restaurants: All are quite expensive. While the village has a small market, in Ste-Jovite (10 min. away by car), you will find many supermarkets. Two things to try: the beaver tails (about $5) and the ice cream with maple sugar and covered with maple taffy ($4).

Entertainment: Mostly geared towards children during the day. Daily list of activities at the desk. Nice little concerts around suppertime in the main square. Interesting show on birds of prey presented on top of the mountain. Challenging mini-golf (too hard for young kids). Great fun for all ages with the luge down the mountain. Many well-marked hiking trails on the mountain. Nice paved bike trails. Private sandy beach with the usual amenities and rentals.

Casino: Free shuttle between the village and the casino. Free non-alcoholic drinks.

The Tremblant ski experience is superb -- and the village was excellent. The Hotel (Lodge de la montagne) offered nice rooms (we had a suite with kitchen and fireplace); excellent indoor parking; nice ski in and ski out feature with lockers; 100 metres to the gondola; a nice jacuzzi. A fantastic trip. Comments: Upon arrival they attempted to have us stay at another location, trying to explain that the reservation with the Lodge could apply to anyone of their properties...I did not buy that, nor the idea they were overbooked, there were plenty of rooms. After speaking to the manager, and a 10 minute wait, all was well. Did we really need that hassle? Something is going on here. Best to call before arriving to ensure your hotel is indeed the one you booked in for. After this we were treated very well, but then came the condo time sharing call, they offer you $100 off the price of the room for a 1 hour no pressure seminar. Other than this hiccup,we had an excellent 2 days of skiing. Area restaurants are a bit pricey - trry Casey's. Or back on Highway #117, Moe's offers a wide variety of food choices in the town of Mont Tremblant (10 minute drive). The Lodge was on the pricey side, even when it was a bundled package. Not entirely sound proof rooms. Nevertheless, you are in the heart of the village -- ask for the view facing the village and the Lake, seems to offer a nicer panorama of the Village , etc.

Booking and check-in was great. Price was not bad. Considering there were other properties available for the same price, I should have chose to stay elsewhere. The bed, linen and pillows were terrible and needed replacing long ago. The room had a nice little kitchen area. It was nice to have some drinks and snacks in my room.

We recently stayed at The Lodge for two nights during March Break. Check-in was quick and painless, and our room was ready early. We booked a suite, which contained a full kitchen, fireplace and a queen size bed. The room was very cozy and the furnishings were lovely - very rustic! The bed was not the greatest - the pillows were terrible and the linens were cheap. For the price of the room, this was a real turn-off.
The rooms are not well soundproofed so be prepared to hear just about everything going on around you! If you are a light sleeper, definitely bring ear plugs and hope for the best.
We would probably chose another place next time, but overall the room was quite nice and had everything we needed. The sauna and outside hot tub were great. If you want to be near "it all", stay here as you are walking distance to everything. Bring your own food and wine, as restaurant prices are outrageous. Splurge on Beaver Tails! The General Store in the Pedestrian Village carries all the basics and prices weren't so bad.

  • Liked — the kitchen, the fireplace, the decor
  • Disliked — the noise, the pillows and linens.

Husband and I just returned from an overnight stay at la lodge de la montagne. All in all the room was clean, staff friendly but a little noisy with teenagers running up and down the halls. The Queen bed was hard as a rock and could do with an upgrade. Good hotel for families, not good for couples looking for a quiet romantic getaway.

Great location -center of pedestrian village!

Having never been ski-ing before i was a little apprehensive when 7 of us decided to go (4 adults, 21 year old, 18 year old and 13 year old). One of the adults and the 21 year old had been ski-ing before the remaining 5 were beginners. We booked through Thomson Ski a year in advance we also paid for our lift passes and ski hire with them. Leaving on 29/12/07 and returning on 10/1/08. On arriving in Montreal we were met by Ben Thomson Rep who was very helpful. As we booked Tremblant Suite we were unsure where we would be staying - we were allocated the La Tour Des Voyagers. Arriving in Tremblant late evening we went straight to our rooms and we were very suprised how clean and roomy they were (they had recently been updated) - we had two of the 1 bedroom suites allocated on the ground floor next to each other. Waking up the next morning and looking out of our window was fantastic it was like a christmas card setting. We met up with Ben and he took us to sort out our passes and hired ski-wear - he didnt just leave us he waited until we were all kitted out. We had no problem booking lessons when we got there, the resort was very busy obviously for this time of the year. There are plently of restaurant too choose from but as the cooking facilites in the room are adequate you dont need to eat out every night. By the end of our 6 day pass 3 of the beginners were going down the blue runs i think they may have even gone down one of the blacks. Plenty of snow. We had so many laughs and mishaps that made this holiday a quiet different experience to my normal beach holiday. The hotel staff especially Maggie at the Reception were very helpful the rooms were cleaned every day and we were always given clean towels. This hotel was located at the bottom of the pedestrian walkway which was convenient for the cabriolet lift to take you up to the gondola/chair lift and then you could ski to door on your return. We could not fault Thomsons, Hotel or Resort. The only thing that we found a bit annoying was when you bought anything or had a meal you had to add on the tax and then the tip!!!!

We stayed at Les Suites for 13 nights over Christmas this year - we had three rooms and were at least all together in the same part of the hotel. The location is great and that's why we selected Les Suites but they clearly have seen better days.

Our suites were all dirty and barely cleaned during our stay even when we asked for the rooms to be vacuumed they weren't. I would certainly agreed that this isn't a customer service orientated hotel. Initially it's hard to find - going under various names you won't see Les Suites signposted anywhere; there's limited mgt service and when you do find someone they're unresponsive to complaints and it was dirty. The worst thing was that the bedcovers just stank.

Another visit I'd choose one of the other and newer suite hotels and leave my ski's with the ski-valet service at the bottom of the lift. The Resort of Tremblant was nice though it was a lot of fun for Christmas if expensive!!
