“Had a very good stay, with annoyances”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2007

They got the basics right. It is nice complex with a lot of features. I chose the 'sunset view' package and I was expecting something with the view on the Ouimet lake. Not so. By their own definition, it is the opposite site of the lake. Thanks to their logic, I was fooled and let down. I never saw such a large indoor pool - extraordinary. The TV network wants your money badly and has only a few channels. It was very quiet (low season) and enjoyed a great rest with annoyances.

  • Liked — Extraordinary indoor pool, nice studio, thematic environment
  • Disliked — Confusing packages, infuriating limited TV network

I spent a long weekend in January. Our room was the sunset room and did have a view of the sunset and the entrance. It sleeps 6 people. There was one king size bed in the bedroom, a double pull-out bed from the wall , and a sofa bed in the living room. There were two bathrooms. One was accessed by the bedroom. The kitchen was small but nicely equiped with microwave and dishwasher. There is a balcony and cable TV. The kitchen table is small and only for 4 persons.

There is an indoor pool, indoor and outdoor jacuzzi, steam room and sauna room. The pool is a bit dated.

We loved our stay. We never used the restaurant because we had all our food. It was fun to come back before supper to be offered hot chocolate every day. They also have a salsa and chips, vegetables and dip available in the lobby bar. There is a shuttle that brings you to the Village at the bottom of the slopes. It's a nice place to shop or just walk around. Every second night they had a bond fire outside, and on the other nights they had a movie for the kids. The animation guys were really nice and fun. They had a vollyball game in the snow.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back at all. For travellers from outside of Quebec, spending time in Mont-Tremblant, in winter, well I hope you ski. It's THE reason to come here. It's a basic hotel, nothing fluffy. Having a kitchen is fun with kids. You'll have to grab a taxi to the supermarket. That will cost you, I guess ,at least 30$ . It's two hours from Montreal, and four hours from historical Quebec City. Both are worth seeing, but not for a day trip. Hope you enjoy Mont Tremblant, but be warned, it can get very cold. On our weekend it was -35 degrees celcius with the wind. January and Feburay are the coldest months. March has beautiful spring skiing, but you never know...

We had a great stay at the grand lodge. The lodge is beautiful with clean rooms and friendly service. The hotel is located on a lake and has boats available for use with your stay. There was a game room, a nice pool with inside and outside hot tubs and a nice bar area with tvs and couches. The surrounding village is lovely and has lots of shops and restaurants along with a ride down the mountain. We stayed for only three nights and it was definitely not enough.

We are a family of 4-2 parents and 2 20ish young adults...we stayed in the one of the pent house suites...the rooms were adequate for a few days but the bedroom is very dreary without windows and poor ventillation...but there are 2 full bathrooms...the view of the lake and the small terrace overlooking is very nice. The lake is a good size with free use of kayaks and canoes...However, don't dare swim beyond the ropes...you'll be whistled in! It was almost painful to have so much lakefront and not "be allowed" to swim. Don't expect much in terms of the SPA...no one even called me back when I tried to schedule some services. However, everyone in the hotel was very helpful...and friendly...and you are so close to the mountain where we went every night to hear some music...and St. Jovite is a really cool town for good restaurants...I'd love to return for another visit

  • Liked — the location and the lake
  • Disliked — noisy trucks driving by during road construction
  • Tips/Secrets — dont stay in the pent house suites...the bedroom is dreary

I feel like I must tell you about my last visit to the Mont-Tremblant area. It was actually my first time, but certainly not the last. After booking a last minute getaway on the website of Le grand lodge, I finaly got there and was anxious to see if everything I was "promessed" was really there.......Well, starting with the lovely smile of the front desk agent, everything after was simply fantastic. Great service, beautiful pool that the kids could not get away from and such gastronomic experience every night. Our "day-time" experience of skiing was such great as some of our friends were staying at the mountain, and I was surprised to see them already exhausted when reaching the bottom of the slopes because of a long walk through the village! As for us, after a comfortable ride in the private shuttle, we were left directly at the bottom of the slopes. So again, from start to finish, it was simply an exceptionnal end of winter experience!

Our stay at Le Grand Lodge did not live up to expectations. The location was superb. Private access to the lake (across a small road) and using hotel Kayaks was a great benefit. Cooking dinner was a plus after a short trip to the grocer. Young families will like this aspect and the very casual, "walk-in walk-out" to the lake atmosphere.
So much for the good news.
Our room was not ready upon arrival for at least an hour and we were offered a drink at the bar. The room was dark in the extreme - and seriously lacking in any cosy lakeside ambience. The master bedroom had no ventilation or natural light at all and reminded me of a safe-room. So much for the view! It was most certainly not worth the price. and I didn't think it was consistent with the description as a luxury resort. We could not wait to get over to the Fairmont.

We were very dissapointed with the our stay at Le Grand Lodge. We have stayed at the Club Tremblant before and had excellent service. I'll be back at the Club Tremblant next year.
