“Better than wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

The reviews are spot on. This place is what you hope for in a B&B.

The three course breakfast was better than any restaurant and the rooms, while small, are cosy and tastefully decorated.

My only small issue was breakfast starting so late. By the time you finish 3 courses half the day is gone. If you're there for a slow weekend it won't bother you.

Recommend a pint at the nearby Pilnser Pub for local beer and great service.

As I noted in another of my B & B reviews, the host can make all the difference to a stay, and the first comment I have to make is on Le Chat Botte's friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful host Nicole. She made us feel so welcome and she took a real interest in our comfort and enjoyment of our stay in the area. You will know by the time that you finish just one of her breakfast services (more on these later) that she takes food seriously. It should come as no surprise, then, that she was familiar with every other good place to eat in the region and both of her local restaurant suggestions were excellent. The house itself is an older property but she keeps it very clean and it features inviting public areas both indoors and out. We had breakfasts twice on the veranda in the morning sun. And when Nicole describes her breakfasts as "gastronomique", believe it. Fresh pressed juice and coffee, three courses including dessert, and all of it prepared lovingly from scratch. Nicole told us that she serves breakfast between 9 and 10:30 and we took that full hour and a half to eat all three mornings. You could conceivably get up early, go out for a bike ride or a walk, and return by 9 for breakfast. However, as a fellow reviewer noted, it is not a meal that gets prepared early or boxed up for guests who need to make a quick departure; it's best to bear this routine in mind when making your plans. One minor downside to our room's appointments was the lack of shower head in the big soaker tub, but it certainly wasn't the end of the world. Nicole provided robes, slippers, and plenty of bed linens for any guest needs, along with bottled water to stay hydrated during the day's activities (we did a fair amount of hiking and walking). If you are planning on staying here, keep one more thing in mind: Nicole hinted that she was considering selling up and doing some travelling, so there may be a time limit on your opportunity to experience this gem of a B & B, at least under her management.

My lover and I stayed in the Marquis bedroom. The room and house are absolutely gorgeous. Decorated in very good taste. I think some of the pictures uploaded here are old because the living room looked much better. The house has 4 outside sitting areas, each one is a marvel. There is also a private beach on the lake and a small river just outside the home. You hear the sound of the river and the birds on the terrace! Nico, our host, is a gem! She is passionate about her b&b and it shows. Every little detail is thought of. The breakfasts were amazing! We are used to very good food and we didn't think we would find such 5 star delights in North Hatley. Bravo! We will be back for sure.

We stayed for two nights at this most charming place. Nico, the hostess, was an absolute delight. She was quick to give amazing suggestions on where to eat and what to do in the surrounding areas. She even lent out her own bikes to us (free of charge) when we discovered there were no bike rentals in the town!
Nico's breakfasts are sure to please even the pickiest of food critics. Every breakfast amazingly includes an appetizer, a main, and a dessert. Not only were they delicious and filling, they are visually stunning in their presentation!
The room was very beautifully decorated and immaculately cleaned everyday! The bed we slept in would rival any bed at the Ritz for sure with its luxurious pillow top!
Make sure to check out Nico's amazing artwork when you visit.....We will definitely return!

Hidden almost at the end of the river road is a charming house with one of the friendliest most accommodating hosts I can imagine. Not every B&B is prepared to accommodate those who rise and leave early - especially if the breakfast requires serious preparation. Such was the case on our visit. The host apologized profusely for being unable to present her normal 'petit dejeuner gastronomique' at 7am but still presented a beautiful delicious breakfast and was utterly charming doing so. Thank-you Nico!

My husband and I spent a wonderful 5 nights at Le Chat Botte. The breakfasts are superb!. A different three course meal every day, everything prepared from scratch. What I apprecaited was being asked ahead of time if there was anything that we didn't eat.. We were there in summer, so an added pleasure was being able to enjoy breakfast out of doors. (If you one of those people who wnats to gobble down your food and run, it's not for you. This is an expereince to be savored.)

The room are small ( we kept our cases inte trunk of the car) but very comfortable.

Nico was very helpful when it came to suggesting restaurants and attractions in the area. Also, she has a waterfront property, so you can swim in the rirver, or try out a paddle boat.

The B&B is convenientty located - a short walk into North Hatley, a really picturesque village, and a good base for touring the area. We did not see a single other car with US palts, which was very surprising, as it's so close to the North East, and a great place for a vacation.

We stayed at Le Chat Botte as part of an anniversary trip through the Eastern Townships. The home is absolutely beautiful! We could have stayed there a week! The decor was wonderful with a fun "cat theme". The wrap around veranda was gorgeous. It rained the night we were there so we truly enjoyed the gas fireplace in our large room (the Carabas Suite). The bed was so comfy and the deep tub, very relaxing. There is a hand held shower in the tub. The only thing we found different from the website was that it looks like the home is in a spot away from other homes - it is on a dead end street. The property is large but there are other homes beside it. To access the river you have to cross the street. Still - it is a beautiful spot. Nico was a wonderful hostess - and a fantastic chef too. Her breakfast was unique and delicioius! We look forward to returning to Le Chat Botte one day - it really felt like "home"!
