“Update air conditioning.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2011

Pre-booked only room with three queen sized beds. Initial impression was quite favorable until the air conditioner began to groan so loud that you could not remain in the room. Windows do not open (a plus given this is a pulp and paper town), so air conditioning is a must in this hotel. We were moved to ajoining rooms, not overly impressive, too many lamp cords to trip over and air conditioning though somewhat quieter not offering much cooler air.
On the plus side, maintenance responded quickly by suggesting a movement to another room once he had determined our first room was uninhabitable. Breakfast was delicious and waitress was very accommodating.

We paid $150++ for an executive-floor room. Bed comfort was outstanding. Shower was awesome -- a strong water flow. Pet-friendly -- no extra charge. Room came with two coupons for full breakfast in the morning. Avoid the steak-and-eggs. I think someone cooked up a piece of nicely-seasoned discarded tire by mistake!

A four-star business hotel should aim for the impeccable. Here are three small things the manager of this hotel should attend to.

1. The "pets not allowed" sign at the front door is very disconcerting to guests who have registered at the hotel specifically because they have pets. Fix this.

2. The full-length mirror by the elevator on the 5th floor stopped at my chin. I could, however, see two full feet of floor at the bottom. I would rather be able to see my face than the floor! Fix this.

3. No one should have to crawl around the floor to find an electrical outlet by the bed in a business hotel. No-one. The electrical outlet should not be stuck behind the bed where you have to pull out the bed and unplug the alarm clock to use it. Fix this.

We appreciated the in-room Keurig coffee-maker -- thank you!

An oasis for tired travellers in northern NB. We would definitely stay again. And I'll be looking to see if you have implemented these suggestions!

We stay there overnight and the staff was first class especially Miss Katia Martin who was so helpful and kind.
The restaurant is a bit expensive and the food is a bit so-so but the staff is very helpful and professional.
The hotel was under renovation when we check in but the staff made the difference.

Stayed here on my way to Halifax.
The hotel is in an excellent location within easy walking distance to the park or restaurants.
The pool looked kind of dingy looking.
No one was swimming in it.
Overall it was one of the least expensive hotels in Edmundston.

I used to live in this area and I return frequently to visit. This hotel is the best place to stay in terms of overall quality, service, and amenities. It's centrally located in the city so it's an easy walk to any restaurant or store. In general the area is remote and most hotels tend to be lower end, but this hotel is quite sophisticated. The only drawback is the inadequate AC. You can set the thermostat low but the central AC will keep the room no lower than 72 degrees, even with the outside air at 60 degrees. The front desk was not helpful despite my frequent complaints. The windows don't open, so I have had to buy fans to bring into the room in order to sleep at night. Pool is small and cold. No fitness center. The hotel is sold out around July 1st so book early if you plan on staying around that time.

Excellent quality, and remarkable price. Significantly improved over its previous incarnation as a Howard Johnson. I have only once had a check-in approaching the speed and efficiency of this hotel (at the 5-star Peninsula in Beijing), and never a more pleasant and courteous one. The room was clean and pleasant, with the same quality of towels, soaps, and in-room coffee that you would expect at a 4-star hotel. Wireless internet is free of charge. The staff are fluently bilingual and uniformly friendly and helpful.

The dining room is also excellent, with superb service. Possibly the best French onion soup I have ever had, and a great trio of locally-smoked bison, duck, and salmon. Breakfasts were very good, and produced almost instantly (but clearly made to order).

Edmundston is a logical stopping place when traveling to or from the Maritimes, and it is well worthwhile detouring into town to stay here, rather than one of the other places on the highway. There is also an excellent golf course about 5 minutes away.

I loved the Chateau Edmundston. The price was surprisingly affordable, the staff very helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable, I felt very welcome.
