“For the price?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014 via mobile

The lodge needs to be upgraded. The decor needs to be redone, painting of interior needs to be upgraded, rugs were well used, interior and exterior doors had seen a better day, pool was unavailable. Restaurant was closed. Rooms had a fridge and microwave. Beds were comfortable. It was quiet but not sure if that was due to it been a quiet time of the year. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Continential breakfast limited selection, may have been due to the number if guests.

Hi Larry W

Thanks for your feedback on your recent stay with us. I'm sorry to hear that it sounds like we didn't live up to your expectations. Our pool is currently closed for repairs but we're on schedule to re-open it by the end of the month. The hot tub and sauna will remain open throughout this period as well, along with all our other amenities. Unfortunately our restaurant is currently closed to the public; hopefully a new tenant will be found soon. In the meantime as you noted, we are offering our "breakfast snack" designed to provide fruit, muffins, yogurt, and coffee to start your day. If anyone would prefer something more substantial we would be happy to recommend another of Fernie's excellent restaurants for a full breakfast. I'm glad you found our staff to be friendly and helpful and I hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip.

Sincerely,

Jon Ward

2nd stopover driving from business trip in Seatlle over to Alberta, Canada visiting family...very convenient, clean & welcoming. Arriving Sunday late afternoon, info of where to eat that evening was very helpful, just happened to suit us. Shame they used to have an attached restaurant now closed, may open again, as eating places in small ski-resort close same days- espec. Sundays. Breakfast didn't cater for my special dietary needs.

Room Tip: all rooms on one floor & all seemed good. If at the back of the lodge, possible to park round th...

Hello Maggie

Thanks for your feedback. I'm glad to hear you found us to be clean and welcoming! I hope our restaurant re-opens as well, but until it does we'll be happy to recommend a local eatery to suit. I hope we'll see you again for another visit, and until then I wish you good travels.

The lobby appearance and staff are very welcoming. The room was large, clean and had nice wood furnishings. The only disappointment was the small 14" TV. With the large room, sitting on the bed to view was very difficult. They have a movie room downstairs, however, we did not use it. The continental breakfast with yogurt, fresh fruit and muffins was plentiful. Very good value.

Hello SJMbab,

Thanks for your very nice review! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. It's always a pleasure to hear that our guests find us to be so welcoming and I hope you'll visit us again. Our return guests qualify for our 10% repeat guest discount, and perhaps you'll try one of our Standard or Superior rooms next time instead of the Economy room, where you'll find a larger TV (as well as other upgraded amenities). Also maybe you'll get a chance to watch a movie next time!

Sincerely,

Jon Ward

Good sized rooms and decent facilities for a reasonable price. Helpful and friendly staff especially in the restaurant and bar. Major issue was with the somewhat limited options for breakfast. Not really what I'd expect when staying in north American and the evening meals were not that filling, though this may have been a good thing as people have said staying for long term in ski resorts tends to result in significant weight gain

Hi MaccMike,

Thank you for your review. I'm glad to hear that you liked our rooms and facilities. I'm especially proud of the my team and the service they are eager to provide, and it's always great to hear that you found everyone to be helpful and friendly. I'm sorry to hear that you found the menu to be limited at the restaurant here in the hotel, but I'm happy to report that a new menu will be offered when the restaurant re-opens for the summer in the next week or so. I'm sure you'll find some items to your liking there!

Hopefully we'll see you again soon.

Sincerely,

This was our first stay at the Red Tree Lodge. We stayed there for three nights at the end of March 2014 during our ski trip. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our room had lots of space for our family of four and was very clean. Our kids thought it was great there was a theatre! The communal kitchen is a nice amenity. For us the heated boot room was the icing on top of our stay!! Nothing like putting on toasty, dry ski boots in the morning!
We would definitely stay here again!!!

Hello Tanya,

Thank you for your great review! We have tried to build an array of amenities to make us a very family-friendly hotel and things like the kitchen and theater are great examples. As you noted, the boot room also works really well all winter (in the summer we convert it to a bike storage room to go with our bike wash station outside). I'm glad you enjoyed your family had a great stay and we'll look forward to seeing you again next time.

This was our second stay at the Red Tree.

We got a suite at a very good rate. The room was terrific.

The staff are incredible, very well trained and super helpful.

The resturant has very good food at very reasonable prices.

The hotel is close to some other very good resturants and pubs.

We will most certainly stay again.

Terry

Room Tip: The suites are very nice

In European terms, the rooms are massive. Lots of space, nice comfy beds, toasty hot tub and a well stocked bar. Service always with a smile, from the Front Desk through the bar to the housekeeping staff, a genuinely happy atmosphere. Despite being located downtown, the views of the skihill and the 3 sisters are great. Highly recommended.
