It was my first time visiting Baton Rouge and I had heard bad things about the service, so I was bracing myself for the worst. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. We were not rushed at any point. Our glasses were refilled so quickly they seemed bottomless. We were asked if everything was alright many times, but not so much so that the staff was intrusive.
The food was delicious, but the portions were really big. We had the two calamari plates as appetizers; we could easily have shared a single plate. The Mississippi calamari (with spicy sauce) was not too salty or spicy, and the lemon made them just right. I had the smaller ribs portion with coleslaw and apples as sides. The ribs were great and so was the sauce. The coleslaw was a little dry and was not presented in a convenient way. It tasted strongly of parsley. The sweet and tart apples, on the other hand, were great as a mini-dessert (believe me, you will probably not want any dessert after the meal).
The atmosphere was good. We could hear each other over the table without problem. The tables were a bit high compared to the seats, which were still comfortable. It was a bit chilly so I suggest bringing a vest.
It was kind of pricey, but I must say that I would go back; making it the cheaper lunchtime meal could be a good plan.
