“Middle of the road hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

The room was nicely furnished and included two chairs, a desk, and a refrigerator. There were plenty of outlets to plug in your phone or other devices for charging. The bathroom was large and had the expected amenities. Free WiFi was available.

There was one major problem. There was no closet or place to hang up clothes though there was a chest to put clothes in. Also, in a 3 floor hotel the only ice machine was on the first floor.

The hotel did have a restaurant but I did not use it.

Staff really friendly and pub good for a relaxing drink and an appetiser there was also a restaurant if you needed a full meal. Comfortable and clean for a one night stay as a stopover. All the amenities were in the room with efficient air conditioning.

I had a great experience in this hotel. The staff were very friendly, the rooms were clean and were basically like all Best Westerns. The bed was comfortable and my air conditioner worked great. The price was affordable, the restaurant and bar served good food at good prices. It's across the street from a grocery and liquor store and is within walking distance to several great eating places.
I would stay here again for sure.

The rooms were clean and very nice, the air conditioning was less then par though when it is very hot and you want a nice cool room I would not suggest this hotel, to sleep we had to sleep without covers in front of the air conditioner and it was barely blowing cold air.

On a road trip through B.C. we arrived at Quesnel about 8:30 PM - no reservations, end of July. We weren't sure what kind of room we would wind up in. The Sandman didn't have an appropriate room and another motel we drove by looked ---- dubious at best. Finally we came to the Best Western Tower Inn on the north side of the downtown area. They had a room for us at a reasonable price. It was clean, large for a "chain" motel, and very comfortable. The desk help was welcoming and cheerful. In the morning, we walked over the a little bakery on the adjacent block for early breakfast and coffee. There is also a Safeway very nearby for last minute provisioning. All in all, we were completely satisfied with our short stay.

We arrived at the Best Western Tower Inn, Quesnel shortly before midnight following a two and a half hour coach journey after the Rocky Mountaineer train on which we were travelling had been derailed on the Cariboo plateau, apparently due to the heat (38c) buckling the track.

Apart from cuts and bruises suffered by some passengers, we were advised by RM Staff the following day, that the 4 people taken to hospital by ambulance had been detained overnight, one with a broken hip who required surgery. Luckily the impact, extreme vibration and shaking of the dome carriage occurred when my wife and were sitting, although a lady fell across me but bruised her left arm on the corner of the servery in front, where drawers were thrown open, bottles, glasses and crockery, etc finished on the floor, whilst drinks and personal possessions found a similar fate.

We waited 4 hours for coaches to reach us to take us on to Quesnel and by the time we arrived at the Best Western Tower Inn, all we wanted was sleep, as we had been advised a train would be provided in the morning, thus necessitating a 6.50am gathering in the lobby.

Ironically, the beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. However, the temperature in the lobby and corridors when we arrived felt as though it was double the external temperature, whilst any reduction in the temperature in our room was only achieved by what another passenger described as "The air-conditioning [unit] sounded like a 747 taking off."

Perhaps we were again lucky, because other passengers said their air-conditioning units were not working and perhaps not, because it was impossible to sleep with the apparently antiquated vibrating air-conditioning unit operating (I even tried earplugs to no avail) and it was impossible to sleep in the extreme discomfort of an airless sweltering room.

Only one night at the Best Western Tower Inn (thank goodness), but definitely the worst night in any of the 7 hotels in which we stayed during our Canadian tour by a country mile, leaving us jaded and unable to adequately enjoy the scenery (the primary purpose of a journey on the Rocky Mountaineer) during our journey to Jasper the following day in a reformed train, not to mention the loss of the scenic opportunities during the last third of our journey on 1 July 2013.

Quesnel is a tiny town, which could be charming if the recession had not occurred. The service was excellent. The rooms were fine, except for the noise from the air conditioner (even on low, it was really loud!).
