“Perched above the valley, this quiet chalet is clean and cosy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

My travel experience ranges from hostels to five stars and even hunkering down in the pay by the hour establishments when necessity dictates. This chalet is very clean and the owners (a young family) seem very eager to please guests. The views afforded of the valley are lovely and unobstructed by crowding. The air-conditioning was great on hot days, but in the evening the winds were lovely from the surrounding hills. We didn't spend all our time in the room, but it had cable and our room had the only wood fire place. It was really charming on the one cold rainy day. I think the other rooms have a gas fireplace. Nothing is rushed or stressful at this place. The rooms were always made up when we got back in the afternoon and for sustainability we requested no sheet changes. The breakfast was very nice. It's not a restaurant, but the food is not left-overs from dinner. There was cereal, toast, real eggs with veg, fried potatoes with onions and either sausage or pancakes. If you love Super 8, this is probably not the ideal place for you. But if you love good views, a relaxed atmosphere and clean rooms, then this little chalet will probably provide a haven to your holiday in Radium.

When we phoned about room rates and questions, we got two different answers.
When we arrived, they had to get tables and lamps out of a different room.
Breakfast was not what was advertised on their website, instead, it looked like their leftovers from supper the night before.
A little perplexing!

Other then that, the hotel it's self has a beautiful view. The rooms are very cute and have a log cabin feel, complete with a little gas fireplace and balcony. Some rooms are pet friendly.

Overall, we always enjoy our stay and continue to go back year after year.

This is our "go to" place while in Radium.
If you are adversed to the owners pets running around your feet and barking while you are eating breakfast, you may not like it. But if you like pets, can put up with minor things, like having them gets things lamps and tables for your room, then you'll be okay. The couple that manages it works hard and wow, they do a lot of stairs in the course of a day.

Room Tip: Groupon! Sometimes they have deals where you get a free bottle of wine and chocolates.

This hotel is clean, welcoming and all over gorgeous. Such a great character hotel. And the staff makes you feel as if you're visiting an old friend. We will be coming here again and again! Thank you for the amazing time and DELICIOUS breakfast.

I've stayed the long weekend at this hotel with my family and no regret. Rooms are clean, neat, not new though but they have a spectacular view from the deck. Our room has a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. As the hotel is located at the top (almost) of the hill, needless to say that it makes perfect for a walk.

We enjoyed our 4 day stay in the Kootenay Suite. The accommodations were clean although they could use some fixing up (peeling paint on baseboards, ripped wallpaper, etc.) although nothing that we couldn't live with. We liked the separate bedroom and the couch (which was a pullout bed) in the living room area. Breakfast started at 9:00 a.m. which we found to be late for our schedule, however, we made do by making coffee and a small snack in our room prior to breakfast. The breakfast area in the lobby was cozy. Breakfast items were fruit, muffins, yogurt, bagels, toast and jam, cereal, coffee, tea & hot chocolate. Items were replenished if you asked. There was a gas barbeque available for guests to use (which we did), however, we recommend that you bring your own bbq tools and lighter. The hotel was quiet during our stay. We were warned about the young bear coming around the hotel occasionally so we were on the lookout for it and we were extra careful in ensuring that no food items were dropped anywhere. The mountain goats grazed on the hill by the hotel so we got a couple of good pictures of them. Our host gave us some pool passes for the hot springs which we used in the evenings after spending our days playing golf at various local golf courses. We would choose this hotel over staying at the older motels in town as the view is spectacular!

We stayed at this hotel just by chance on our way through radium, and were pleasantly surprised. The views were far better than I imagined and the couple running the hotel give it the warm, homey, welcoming feeling. Though they do need some upgrades in technology, it is not why you should stay here. Stay for the amazing views, great people and positive atmosphere. We will be back very soon!

We had a great weekend in Radium. The hotel is situated high so you have a great view of radium town and the mountains.

Our room was a suite with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and living room. The living room had a sofa (also a pull out bed) a little table, cable tv and a fireplace plus a balcony with a view of the mountains.

The kitchenette has utensils, glasses and plates, a sink, a fridge and maybe some other stuff but I didn't look in the cupboards to see if there was anything else!

The bedroom has what seemed like a queen bed with a nice quilt rather than just than the old style blankets. I found the bed uncomfortable as it was hard but that's just my preference.

The bathroom has a bath and built in shower. The bath didn't have a bath plug, not sure if it's just missing or if this is on purpose to save water?! On the wall is a dispenser of shower gel and shampoo and there were little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, shoe cleaner and soap. There is also a hair dryer.

The guy maintaining the hotel over the weekend was really nice and friendly and available 24 hours if you needed anything.

Included is a free breakfast starting at 9am. Finally a hotel that doesn't end breakfast at 9 (I don't get up until 9 so I usually miss out on breakfast). There was toast, cereal, cheese, coffee, juice etc. The bread for the toast was so good!!

There is a BBQ you can use and what looked like hiking trails right next to the hotel (I don't hike so I can't be sure!). We saw goat sleeping in the car park and there is also a black bear that likes to visit. This scared me as I am very afraid of bears, I not sure if much is done to stop the bear coming, there is a garbage can in the car park which is not bear proof but thankfully I never saw the bear!

Overall we had a great stay. This is not a hotel I would celebrate a special occasion at ie anniversary or honeymoon as I prefer a higher star hotel for those occasions but for a weekend away with your other half or kids it's perfect and very clean.
