“great day hike while visiting victoria”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

while visiting friends in victoria, i was looking for an outdoors day trip which wasn't a boat ride or whale watching (been there/done that) - the visitor's center pointed me to the guided hikes with rainforest tours.
because of my short notice inquiry, i was given two already booked tours to join - i chose the half day hike to mystic beach. our guide - toni - picked me up where i was staying in victoria. we drove to pick up the other tour members in sooke and landed at the juan de fuca marine trail trailhead. toni makes it all easy by having a backpack with water and lunch already packed for you. the hike through the forest was beautiful. toni was really patient and knowledgeable with all questions asked. the walk ended up at mystic beach where we wandered to look at waterfalls, a cave and rock arch. all so beautiful!
toni's personality and openness - and absolute LOVE of nature - made the hike fun and a great time. high recommendation from this regular hiker from texas!

“Best activity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

My husband and I went on an half day rainforest hike with Toni and loved it. Toni was very knowledgeable and helpful along the trail. She pointed out small things that we would have missed, like mushrooms and slugs. She also provided a wonderful lunch that we enjoyed on the beach at our half way mark. If we would have had more time in the area I would have signed up for another hike. Don't miss this if you are in the area.

“2 Great Hikes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2012

Went hiking with Rachel. She is a wonderful guide and great company. She really knows all the ins and outs of the trails and points out interesting plants and wildlife. She also provides a delicious lunch. You are picked up and returned to your hotel. Did a beach hike and a rainforest hike. Did I mention that she is also a wonderful photographer? Highly recommended - do not miss!

“Amazing hike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

My husband and I wanted to include a half-day rainforest hike on a weekend retreat to Victoria. We contacted Rainforest Tours and were pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. Our tour guides, Toni and Rachel, were extremely knowledgeable, accommodating and personable. They were very familiar with the plants, animals and the "culture" of the forest, and opened our eyes to an ecosystem we were barely acquainted with. The lunch was generously portioned and absolutely delicious: fresh, organic salad, a rich sandwich made with home-made bread, and scrumptious brownies. We enjoyed an invigorating hike with splendid views of the ocean and the forest in the company of the most pleasant guides we could have imagined. It is our fondest memory of our trip to Victoria!

“Rainforest tours opened a whole new world to us.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2012

My wife and I first hiked with Rainforest Tours in August, 2010. We started at Parkinson and hiked to Botanical. My wife returned again in May, 2011, for another adventure. She especially loved the tidal pools, with the colourful sea urchins and anenomes, and little fish. We learned so much about the vegetation - natural herbs used by Vancouver Island natives - and the ecosystem of the rain forest. The food was fabulous, with a choice of gourmet sandwiches on homemade breads, salads with dressing, and desserts. Our guides chose an amazing picnic site on a cliff overlooking the crashing waves below. We watched the seals playing in the water while we ate our lunch. We saw bears as well but our guides explained that this was just a part of their natural habitat and explained to us how to behave when they were near. We saw Harlequin ducks, which I understand are a rare site in most parts of Canada. The hikes were relaxing, exciting, and the guides were always attentive to our capabilities, safety and interests. They made it seem as though we were hiking with family.
