How did they manage to get 4*???? It's a joke. The place stinks as you get in - mold and worn out carpets from around the 60th. The whole place is totally gone down the drain, and need a major renovation. They should charge cheap motel prices as what their state is now. The room looked so dated and not clean, no air conditioning, the bad was uncomfortable with hard like a rock pillows.
The location of this hotel is fantastic though, right on the lake, away from any traffic, surrounded by pine trees, next to the bike path. And that what makes it sad, that having such a beautiful spot and obviously having seen some glory in the past, to get to this terrible condition. The service is pretty bad too, or should I say not existent, the bar was closed all the time, and you really have to look for someone if you need anything, even at check-in and check-out.
The restaurant was another terrible experience - both for food and service. The staff is inattentive, ignorant and frankly rude; they also look as if they are ex-prison guards. We booked dinner for the first night for convenience and also being misled by their claims to some awards (must've been some decades ago). For an appetizer we had mushrooms (around 10$). These were cheap cremini mushroom way over salted and drained in some disgusting cream sauce alone with burned onions. The main course - duck magret (over 30$) resembled a shoe sole rather than anything edible served with some sickening concoction of veggies (was it a boiled cabbage or who know what) Anyhow, this had to be returned. We did not feel adventurous anymore, so had cheese and wine instead. To their credit, the wine list was decent.
Hopefully, some serious investor would buy this place one day and turn it into a gem, but until then, steer clear of it.
