“A little expensive for the area but great food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2011

We ate at Kinniwabi Pines 8/11/11. My wife & daughter had shrimp stir fry which was very good while my son and I had the Lake Trout. The Lake Trout was extremely fresh and was griddle with a light dill crust. It was probably the best fish that I've had in quite some time. The service and staff were great! Highly recommend.

“Don't be put off by the eclectic menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2011

I had read the reviews and was a little worried that the kitchen might not be able to pull off the variety of cusines on the menu, but since the Best Northern next door was full, we decided to give it a try--turned out to be a great choice. The whitefish was fresh and well cooked, and the seafood linguini was great. The wine list is not long, but has some nice wines at very good prices. Service was very friendly--by the end of the meal we had been served by most of the family who run the restaurant.

“Do not miss this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2011

Kinniwabi Pines was so good we went back a second night on the same trip north. The family served and we met Mom, son and grandaughter and they all proved to be most welcoming, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent and the fish was fresh, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The homemade soup as a no extra cost bonus starter was Caribbean inspired and absolutely delicious. This was a highlight of our trip exploring north of Superior - superior food and superior hosts.

“This is a great place to plan to stop if driving across northern Ontario”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2010

We drive to Thunder Bay from Atlantic Canada and back each spring and fall. We always plan to stop here for breakfast. This is not a greasy spoon like many highway stops. It is a great restaurant that happens to be on the side of the road. The food is wonderful, the coffee served in china cups and the view of the river pleasant. It is a relaxing break in a long drive.

DO NOT confuse this restaurant with the one beside it and attached to the motel . They are not of the same caliber.

Plan on waiting FOREVER! But the food is wonderful! We weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter.
