“Rest and Relax in comfort by the water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Betty and Tony are welcoming hosts who make you feel at home in their clean, attractive and well appointed home. They took an interest in your activities and took time to have a cup of tea with us. We used their bicycles and scooter to go into the Port of Orillia. We also sat by the water to read and enjoy the fresh air.

Room Tip: We used two room which were well equipped, quiet and comfortable.

The electric scooter was inherited from Betty's father Ken Rose, who used to live with us. Tony used to use it to walk Bailey safely when the roads were icy. Now it it kept for guests and they are usually self conscious about using it. This lady was persuaded to use it while her husband borrowed a bike for a trip to downtown via the paved Trails through Tudhope Park. We could hear her giggling as she set off on the scooter, and she came back having been downtown and back (5 miles). She said she was a tortoise no longer, she had become a hare! It is a great life being a B&B host. We love it!

I was overwhelmed by the attention to detail and warmth shown by our hosts. We were travelling with another couple to see a show at Rama.
My partner found this B&B and booked us there. I am so happy he did.
It was a HUGE far cry from a Days Inn.
We enjoyed a nice afternoon by the water. Tea, coffee and cakes were available to us as well as a selection of homemade wines, beers and cider.
The rooms were lovingly appointed and well equipped.
Breakfast was incredible from place-cards at your seat to fine china and delectable food choices.
A truly wonderful experience.

Room Tip: As we were 2 couples we chose odd/even to select our rooms. Either one was lovely. Room #2 has a vie...

Betty and I thank you for your kind review and for the photos you added. We are so glad you and your friends found us; it was a great visit. We are fortunate so many first class people like yourselves come and visit us here in Orillia.
Since you were here, the m/v "Blythe Speerit" has left her moorings to venture out on Lake Couchiching on two excursions, but not with passengers so far.

Betty and Tony's beautiful home with manicured lawns and waterfront location is brilliant for just relaxing or taking all the many opportunities they offer to enjoy the water or local area.
They made us feel at home immediately and the room was beautifully decorated with every thing you could wish for. Breakfast was home cooked and offered a good choice. Clean friendly a real gem

Sometimes the owner is not certain just who has given us a wonderful review. We certainly do appreciate you for taking the time to submit this review. The dynamics of the groups have been extremely agreeable this year, and it makes such a difference when the conversation crackles and people are having an enjoyable time.
We have a table that seats six persons unlike some places where they choose to seat each person or couple at a separate little table. People can choose their own start time if they wish to be served separately, no problem, but if you like companionship, we will try and arrange it so that you can meet with fellow visitors.

From the warm, friendly welcome into their beautiful home to the fine attention to every detail, my experience at this B & B this past weekend has been fantastic. A very comfortable bed in quiet surroundings, an excellent breakfast with generous portions and great selection, served in a classic dining room setting by Betty and Tony in their high-spirited and engaging style, the very informative booklet and the immaculate home all show the hosts' keen sense of hospitality. Location is also idyllic: The home is on Couchiching Point, a small, quiet neighbourhood on a peninsula jutting into the lake and its beautifully landscaped yard leads directly on the water. Excellent value for the money. A mere 10-minute walk from Tudhope Park. Highly recommended. I very much look forward to my next visit! Thanks Betty & Tony!

Well thank you for a beautiful description of our place. I know it is quite a bit of work to write a review, so I want to express our appreciation for what you have done. As people know, TripAdvisor reviews can be depended on, they are written by an independent person and may not be placed there by the owner.
A lot of people book here after reading reviews such as yours, so thank you. We take reservations on line on several websites.

We will stay here for sure if and when we are near Orillia. Sherry was most hospitable and the owners had gone to some pains to make this an attractive place to stay. The choice of breakfast was most alluring and the walk along the shore of the lake a delight after a long drive.

Thanks Elizabethi for this complimentary review, and we thank you for posting it, it was very kind of you and we are grateful. We were having a great time in the Kawartha Voyageur and we are so glad Sherry holds the fort when we get away.

My husband and I stayed one night to see a show at Casinorama. (10 minute drive). We can't wait to come back for a longer stay! Sherry was wonderful and the house and property is beautiful and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and customized for our preferences. Would definitely recommend. We didn't have a chance to use the paddle boat/canoe or bike ride (time constraints) but there is a lot to do on the property and immediate area.

We are so glad for Casino Rama and the excellent shows they put on for us. Thank you for favoring our B&B for your visit after the concert. It was most kind of you to post this review. Guests often come here to enjoy live performances at The Orillia Opera House.

We enjoyed our trip last year so much that we came back again this year. It's truly a delight to be pampered at Betty & Tony's. Their gracious guests, have a lovely home, and the breakfast is fabulous. It's so much fun to have a gourmet breakfast served in the lovely dining room on beautiful dishes - reminded me of being able to dine at Dowtown Abbey. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. And look forward to another return visit.

Hi Sheila C: Sorry to be so late in replying to your kind post on Tripadvisor. We are glad you enjoyed breakfast 'in style' like Downton Abbey. Betty and I always wonder whether we should offer a less formal breakfast on the deck in the fresh air, but it's a bit sunny. They say "generation x' doesn't like having breakfast with other people. Next year will be our 20th so it is perhaps a bit late to change...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
After 21 years as a fine Bed and Breakfast, Betty and Tony decided to limit reservations to the nights of Friday-and-Saturday as a two night minimum stay,or Saturday-Sunday 2 nights, (and we would prefer to limit that to guests that have been before). As you enter our friendly home, you will first see through the windows of the great room to the private waterfront ahead of you. Daylight floods the eleven winding stairs accessing the guest rooms on the lower level. To the left is the library, to the right the dining room where you will be served your selection from our remarkable breakfast menu. Free, on-site parking space is marked out. Betty and Tony, the owners, designed and built this unusual house in 1985 for their retirement dwelling. But they love to entertain company so they added en-suite bathrooms to the spare bedrooms and the rest is history! Betty is a retired teacher and Tony is a retired engineer. On the waterfront is the replica steamship m/v Blithe Speerit, which does not take visitors out. It is a lawn ornament you can have a quiet drink on. ... more   less
