“Not for Fussy Guests”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

My wife and I, along with 8 other couples from our car club booked this hotel for 2 nights, Saturday and Sunday. When we arrived, the reservations had been messed up with several couples ending up with double beds instead of kings. The rooms were very small, with a closet about 18 inches wide. However the room was clean and the bed comfortable. The hot tub and ice machine were broken and our room had a broken security lock and door stop like someone had kicked the door open. The noise at night inside and outside the hotel with partyers and a pub across the street was horrendous. The staff advised it was like that every weekend with lots of young people staying at the hotel. The hotel is 80 years old, has 3 floors and no elevator. I asked the desk clerk if they advised people there was no elevator when making reservations and she said, "usually". This would obviously be a concern to people with difficulties walking.
On a good note, the staff allowed our group to use the breakfast room in the evening so we could get together. The night clerk made a pot of coffee for me at 5:30 one morning even though breakfast wasn't available until 6 a.m. The hotel is close to the main street with a number of decent restaurants and shops within walking distance.

Quaint Hotel has interesting history. I thought it was a refurbished school or something but I guess there's a reason it was built this way. Great location right downtown close to parks and the water but that also makes it somewhat noisier than other places. the traffic lights beep all night and there's a little bit of traffic. Not loud but noticeable. Get a room farther from the intersection and you'll be fine. People say the rooms are small but I didn't really think so, not large, but fine I thought. Lots of nearby restaurants with a couple blocks since you are pretty much in the center of town, granted a small town, so it's not like a lot is going on. Plenty of free parking when I was there plus there's all kinds of free parking around, Comfy bed and the room seemed fairly well kept up. I didn't see any issues but luckily I don't see real well. Downside of the hotel would be stairs with can't really be avoided given the landscape, no elevators, a little noisy, and a substandard free breakfast, no juice of any kind, toaster waffles, so-so coffee, etc. There were bananas and apples. I think some very minor changes could really help (like fix the juice machine and just give the place a little attention, but it was about what you'd expect from a mid-priced hotel. Might stay there again, just because of the location.

Room Tip: Get as far from the intersection as you can get if noise bothers you. I think I had 122 right on the...

I mean what can you expect in this Price range? The rooms are clean and theplace is not noisy. It is a short walk to the water, you have Metro and other stores just around the Corner. I would come again. The breakfast is really good, with fresh fruit and all kinds of stuff.

but DONT ask the Concierge Lady for Restaurant recommendations: She will eventually sent you to the Thai Restaurant on the other side of the street !!!

Room Tip: 217 is facing the backyard and is a quiet one, and you can see your car from your window

Front Desk staff looked sloppy and unprofessional. Once reaching our room, pulled down the sheets on the bed & found crusty food stains and hair on bed & dust on the clock, phone and lamp. Went to front desk to complain and she told us that she couldn't give out the name of the General Manager for us to file a complaint. Decided to give another chance and took a room on the 3rd floor. The sheets were clean but once we explored, found lots of dust on the clock, lamp, and telephone, a large crack in the closet door, room # plate on outside of door missing and replaced with a small "310" written in pencil. (took pictures). I went further exploring with my camera to find blood splatter on the wallpaper and door frame in the hallway. The list goes on. This ruined our sister reunion weekend. Run from this Hotel! Hotel staff didn't seem to care.

Stayed 2 nights. No elevator was a down side. Parking was slim, & I had some concern since there are bars sharing the parking area. The room was clean. The shower curtain needed to be replaced, but it wasn't too awful. & I was not sure about the towels. There was a towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. I don't know if the staff hung it there as some sort of courtesy-thing, but I didn't use it in the chance it was previously used & the staff forgot to check before releasing the room. No problems with with service,

It was my second stay in two years.I love the location. The hotel is older but very clean and the staff is super nice and helpful.Breakfast could be a little more exiting. If you`r planning on walking a lot this is the place, just two minutes to the waterfrond, ten to the brand new library and to the playhouse and stores.

We stayed here during the Orillia Scottish festival. The hotel is located such that you can walk to the parade, local restaurants, grocery store adn even shopping if you are interested. It is a short drive to the casino as well. The continental breakfast is very basic, but convenient.
