“Leacock Museum The Best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

The summer home of arguably Canada's best humorist, and one of the few writers known outside Canada, is set up as if the writer had just stepped out for a breath of Lake Couchiching air. Don't miss it.

“Lovely location/history and lunch on the lake - Hidden Gem!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2012

The property at the Stephen Leacock home is stunning. Photographers paradise. I have seen many a wedding here. Sit on the bench looking over the water, have lunch on the patio next to the water and walk out to the boat house and feed the ducks. The home itself is interesting and nice to see. I miss the guided tours but there was lots of information inside the home. The grounds are free to walk but if you want to go into the house you buy tickets in the gift shop. The gardens are so nice. It really gives you an idea of why he liked to write here. Go in the basement to see the Snooker table - you can imagine the odd bet that happened in there. In the dining area if you see the mirror it is positioned so that he could watch the wait staff. He actually had two mirrors but I noticed one was taken down.In his study behind some books is a small secret compartment. Some art work from local artists can be enjoyed inside the home as well. Saying all this it is a wonderful place to stop. Check out their web site as they host some lovely events here! Enjoy!

“Restaurant on Lake Couchiching”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

A lovely place opening May 26 again this year. Used to specialize in quiches and lunches, I don't think they are open for dinner. The attraction is tea and coffee on the waterside at the Leacock Museum. Orillia has only one other lakeside restaurant, can you imagine a city situated on two lakes being so lacking in amenities. O I forgot Frenches Burger stand in the park.

“Sit and relax...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 23, 2012

Whenever I pass through Orillia, I seek out this beautiful property. It is not a museum in its traditional sense. It is a home and grounds that has preserved a piece in time dedicated to great Canadian humourist Stephen Leacock. The home is pretty much in tact as he might have left it. The grounds are a splendour of perennial flowers along pathways leading to Lake Couchouching and the iconic boathouse. The boathouse, when open, offers an interesting display of life on the lake at the time. Summer weekends are busy times with weddings and private functions sometimes usurping the facility. The facility plays host to a variety of community workshops and events. A gift shop offers books, memorabelia and information.
Also a restaurant on the grounds. If nothing else, just walk the property.
