“A bit disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

The good: beautiful place, friendly staff, comfortable rooms. In the lobby there's the cutest tea/coffee cabinet I've ever seen.

The not-so-good:
- Our son had a sofa bed but no sheets, so he had to sleep directly on the mattress under a light cover. (We could have called the staff, but it was pretty late when we found out the problem, and we didn't want to disturb anyone.)
- The air conditionning is loud. You can't turn it off since it's centralized, I guess most North American people are OK with that, but my wife and my son had trouble sleeping with that noise.
- We knew that there was no breakfast, however we were told on arriving that there was some cake available in the morning. Well, we came down at 9am there was nothing left... Not a big deal but good to know.

All in all it was far from a bad experience, it was just a bit disappointing.

We had a 2 nights stay at this place.
Very friendly place, quiet and well furnished. Try the bed with the feathers linen, they are the best!
Thanks for the owners to have put the straight patio chair in our room as my wife was very sick due to a bad cold. She had to sleep seated....

Room Tip: No 8 on the garden side. middle floor

Charming & elegant. Impressive classic Victorian mansion, tasteful detail in rooms and landscaping. Staff are welcoming and accommodating. Walking distance to waterfront & downtown. Great spot for adult romantic getaway. We had a wonderful time here.

I had the previledge of staying 2 nights in the beautiful Victoria Rose which was stunning inside and out. The care and detail of not only the building itself but the grounds were amazing. The staff and owners were extremely accomodating and friendly and the complimentary coffee bar was icing on the cake. The Inn's location makes getting around simple as everything you need is within walking distance (parks, river, marina, etc). I visited the socialist pig coffee house (3 times!)because their food was unreal, especially the weekend brunch! Cant wait to go back.

Probably the most gorgeous B&B I've ever visited, wonderfully restored, the rooms spacious, well-appointed and clean (and expensive). Staff is very knowledgeable and attentive and the Inn is a short walk from the harbour. The Inn's grounds are pleasant, if a bit unkempt in the back, but that does not really detract from the overall atmosphere. My only negative point would be that while ostensibly a B&B, the Inn does not actually offer breakfast. A selection of cakes, fruit, and drinks (coffee, tea, juice) is offered, but a real breakfast must be had elsewhere. Fortunately, Gananoque is so small there is no difficulty finding an eatery nearby.

Room Tip: If you prefer a tv in room, you'll have to check with the Inn, as only certain rooms have tv, th...

This a not a typical hotel stay, it is a beautifully maintained heritage building filled with all sorts of history and charm. The owners as well as the staff were fantastic, very knowledgeable, and helpful in terms of the area and the activities going on around them. I honestly did not have a single complaint about my stay everything was exactly as we had hoped. We will be back and we can't wait!

My wife and I recently stayed at the Victoria Rose Inn. 4 years ago, we stayed here for our wedding night. We came back to celebrate our 4 year wedding anniversary.

The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable about the Thousand Islands. They were very helpful in helping us find good restaurants and events that were taking place in the area that weekend.

We stayed in room number 10 (top floor), which offers amazing views of the surrounding area and gardens. The best part about the room is the bathroom/jacuzzi tub. There was no TV in the room, which makes it even more relaxing. The bed and linens were so comfortable that I didn't want to get out of bed the next morning.

The Victoria Rose is definitely a unique experience. You really feel like you are staying at a place that has a ton of history. We have stayed at other inns/hotels in the area and I can say that without a doubt, this is the best experience we have had.
