“~~Fantastic Stay~~”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2011

I stayed here for business last year and swore I would be back with my husband it was so lovely. This trip I was orginally supposed to just stay one night but decided to stay three as it was so great. The staff (Katie, Cheryl & especially Lou) were the icing on the cake of a beautiful spot. We were upgraded to a Jacuzzi suite when they learned that although I was working my husband was vacationing and we wanted to stay the extra days. It was amazing! Wood burning fireplace, lovely view of the water with Muskoka chairs that you never want to get out of. We had little chipmonk visitors outside that would eventually eat from your hand. The jacuzzi was terrific before jumping in the comfy bed for a peaceful nights sleep. The pub is a fisherman's & historian's delight but the topper is Lou the bestest barkeep ever. Quiet at first, his stories and a trip on his boat became the highlight of our trip! The restaraunt with it's view of the water is great but the food is the still the star. One night we had the best scallops with real garlic butter that kicked your butt! The last night of our stay my husband ordered the Prime Rib King size and was round eyed in awe of the massive hunk of meat that came to the table for him. He didn't even dent it that night and he is a very proud carnivore that had never before seen a piece of meat he couldn't conquer. Not only was it huge but it was tender as butter and very tasty. My surf and turf was an excellently seasoned treat too but couldn't top the Prime Rib for shear scale!
We will be back for sure! It has now become one of those spots we want to revisit for anniversaries and such because the natural beauty and the amazing staff make it a very special spot! Thank you Glen House for a business trip that felt like a honeymoon adventure! See you soon!

We had our 44 man Golf tourny here this year (June 2011) the resort was great and prices were very good. I stayed in a challet and enjoyed the calm & quiet. Food was excelent and the prim rib was great. We have had this tourny runing now for 10 years and moved it around Niagara usualy but we will keep this place and the Smuggler golf course in our books for future stays & events

Room Tip: They have many Pkges

I'll bet this was a beautiful place at one time but I just spent a week there and was really suprised at how run down it is. My room (#232) actually had an extension cord running under the carpet (total fire hazzard) to power the tv. The outside pool was closed for "health reasons" and the railing of the indoor pool came off in my hand as I got in. There are 2 hot tubs but only one works and just barely. There's basically one jet that really works in it. The grounds are nice looking but polluted with goose crap and snakes. There are both grass snakes and big water snakes all over the place. A friend of mine even had one in her room!

The food is great though and the staff were very friendly but, for the money, I'd go someplace else.

Room Tip: Room 222 is the best one by far.

Thank you for voicing your concerns. We value your feedback in order to improve our venue and services. With regards to the extension cord, it was addressed after your departure. We valued your concern when you reported it to the front desk during your stay.

If memory serves me correctly at the time of your stay, there was a regional power outage. The Resort only had minimal power with our company generator. Unfortunately that was out of our hands.

The outdoor pool had not been opened for the year pending our annual opening inspection by the local health unit.

We are located in the countryside and that goes in hand with being on the St, Lawrence River and having all types of nature at our very own doorstep. We share our property with chipmunks, squirrels, geese, loons, and unfortunately with the occasional water or grass snake. If guests leave the patio door open and unattended they do get into the rooms.

We clean the grounds on a regular basis to eliminate the the bird droppings but it is a full time chore.

Thank you for providing your feedback.

We recently held our annual golf tournament at the the Glen House resort and Smugglers Glen golf course. We had 44 middle aged male golfers stay at the resort for three nights with 3 rounds of golf at the onsite golf course. I can not say enough about the wonderfull experience we all enjoyed. The resort catered to our every need, a special thanks to Jeanine for her assistance in making this one of our best tournaments to date. The rooms and chalets were very roomy and extremely clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. The grounds were immaculate, and the pool and hot tub area were greatly appreciated. Absolutely no complaints from anyone in our large group.

I must comment on the quality of food available at both the dining room and golf course, It was fantastic. The resort dining room and adjacent lounge were gathering spots for our group, with excellent sevice and freindly and efficient staff. A special thanks to Sarah for putting up with us!! The addition of the Pub Fare menu as well as the dining room menu ensured plenty of choice, with all food freshly prepared and delicois.

Thanks to Doug Wark at the golf course for looking after our every need. Smugglers Glen is a beautiful golf course that was very much enjoyed by our group. Playing the same course three days in a row was a first for us, and we could not have picked a better destination. Delicios food at the clubhouse, and a caring staff that went the extra mile to ensure everyone enjoyed the experience. Thanks to the bartender at the resort for making sure our stragglers made it back the resort safely!!

If you are planning a getaway, i highly recomend this resort. You will not be disapointed. For all other golf trip planners, put this resort and golf course on your agenda as our group enjoyed all aspects of this years tournament.

The Glen House helped us run a 3-day retreat for our management team. We brought 70 people and took over the whole resort. The rooms were clean and spacious and had all the essentials. The meals we spectacular and they catered to every dietary requirement. We had a function at their club house including catering, dancing, horse shoes and a bonfire. They helped get us private buses and coordinated a Thousand-island cruise and their staff were brilliant to work with. Everyone was friendly and helpful. They responded well to last minute changes and customer demands. The conference rooms have a lovely view as do most of the hotel rooms. The break-out rooms were spacious and their set-up team did a great job of managing tables, flip charts, screens and all the things we needed. We didn't have time for golf unfortunately as the course looks delightful. The whole place felt like our own private home. Great country ambiance with a lake side and forest views that restore the soul We'll go back again for sure.

We come to Glen House and Smuggler's Glen as a group of 40 golfer's every year on the first Saturday of May and stay for 2 nights and 3 days. The staff and owner's are some of the most friendly people you could meet. The food is always excellent and served in a timely manner. Service at this resort is unquestionably, the best. The rooms are always clean and very comfortable. As for the golf course, the views are specatcular and the elevation changes are amazing. The course is always in perfect condition. A true test of golf from any tee block.

I remember coming to Glenn House in the late 1970's with my family and at the time and as a kid under 10 it was great. So I took my family back one day...

It started off weird: 1980's decor (complete with in-room stand-up bar), restaurant food from the 1980's - and then it went downhill. Our room was ok, but lots of small repairs needed such as ceiling stains and torn wallpaper overlooked; grounds kept ok, but again missing a bit of "care"...and at over $150 per night I would have expected more.

Overall I see a struggling management maintaining some level of service, but unable or unwilling to renovate themselves out of the predicament they are in. They may not even be aware - but when all of their retired baby-boomer crowd (who are probably coming only for the nostalgia of decades ago when they were young and with families) stop coming, there will be no other customers.

Unfortunate, because I do have fond memories of this place when I was a kid - and I'll keep it that way, only as memories.
