“Nice weekend getaway location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Stayed two nights in the Caverley Cottage with another couple. It's across the street from the Inn . It's nice and private, quiet with parking right there at your door almost. Has a double communicating door between the two suites (so quite soundproof) so it's perfect for a family or two couples. In 601 was the larger and more expensive one with a sitting area which has a sofa bed, two chairs and coffee table, that's where the not so great fireplace is. Suites were very clean, staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly. Lobby of Inn has a lovely fireplace, and is inviting but the ones in the rooms are old and tired and are electric with lights, not gas. Televisions are Zenith, and quite out of date. We had 601 and our pillow top bed was quite comfy but our friends did not sleep well as their bed was older and lumpy. Our bathroom had a lovely coner bath (needs caulking) and a lovely pedestal sink, but there is nowhere to put your toileteries, not a big deal if you're not staying long. Rooms are big and have a lovely balcony with chairs, so wonderful in summer. Watermark Restaurant was nice and cozy and delicious for an evening meal, limited menu but all items were good. Decent selection for breakfast too which is included with the room price.

Room Tip: Have a good look at the website and explore the options that suit your needs and call the Inn to ask...

Thank you for your review. We are please that you enjoyed your stay with us! Caverly Cottage is a quaint, old wooden structure and fire safety necessitates electric fireplaces in that building. All of other fireplaces are gas. As part of our green policy practices we replace televisions and other electronic only when they cease to function.

I spent one night here with my boyfriend for our anniversary. I booked the suite (rm #508 in the Annex) because it had a large stone fireplace (gas) and large jacuzzi tub. We were very pleased with the room; my only issue was there was quite a bit of noise from the room above us (just walking around but very clear) and our room did not have a view- we looked out at a pretty garden area then the back of another building. If we went back I would book a room on the top floor so you could see over the building because I liked being in the Annex. The room was very clean, beautiful big bathroom. The property itself is very pretty. I loved the cookies and the basket of apples at reception- nice touch. We chose to stay here because we did the Boldt Castle boat cruise so it was close and we did not want a Holiday Inn experience. Breakfast was yummy.

Room Tip: The Annex seemed a bit quieter but book room 501-504 to get more of a view.

Thank you for your review. Room 508 with its cozy stone fireplace is particularly popular during the winter months. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us!

Omg! Stayed here for a business meeting and wasn't expecting much... But wow, I WILL definitely come back with family. I had anAnnex room that looked over the river the view was stunning! The room was updated and extremely clean. The bed and pillows.... I could have stayed in bed all day! I meant to check the makes as I want to buy the whole pkg for home. Breakfast was wonderfull to. But the whole experience all came together with the staff - very friendly, engaging and helpful. Over all a wonderful experience I can't wait to go back.

It is hard to beat the location of the Gananoque Inn and Spa. It's prime real estate right on the water within walking distance of the most essential part of any trip to the Thousand Islands-- the Gananoque Boat Line. Unfortunately, that's the best thing about the old Inn. It's shabby without the chic. Fawlty Towers may have met its match here. The hall carpets are downright dirty and although I would not fault the cleanliness of the room I had, it was very out of date. I paid extra for a fireplace which, unless you are there in the dead of winter, was hardly worth the money. But the real travesty here are the two restaurants. They are as shabby as can be, understaffed and share not just the fabulous view but identical menus. And here's where the place really falls down. Can you imagine being in a place called the Thousand Islands, home, need I tell you, of Thousand Island Salad Dressing, and serving the bottled Kraft version of same? And, may I add, it's a terrible version of this famous recipe. The food is one step above a very low end fast casual restaurant. The service is anything but fast and the crew was overwhelmed even on a Sunday night with no more than 1/3 rd of the tables full. I actually saw two gentlemen who had clearly had it waiting for their check so they proceeded to walk out and only then were they presented with their bill. I had looked forward to this trip for weeks. But I was sorely disappointed. It looks like they are just coasting at this point. They need to spiff the whole place up. And to top it all off, the cable television didn't work in the first room so I moved to a second one where the exact same problem occurred. The man called to fix the problem told me that since they'd rewired the hotel, none of the televisions were up to par. Not exactly a surprise considering what else is going on there.

Room Tip: Try to pay as little as possible and get a room facing the water.

Thank you for your review. While the inn charms many, some prefer a big city experience.

Our family of 4 stayed at the Ganaoque Inn and Spa this summer. The rooms, while a bit tight, were very clean and tidy. The staff were extremely friendly and really went out of their way to keep us happy and informed of local sight-seeing opportunities. Late afternoon had our kids bee-lining for the tasty cookies served at the front desk.

Despite the age of the building, we had VERY sound sleeps... with no sounds of foot steps above us or voices in the rooms next door.

The dining facilities were better for breakfast and lunch than dinner. Its central location meant we could walk downtown, to the the river, etc.

They do offer the free use of their bikes; however, they are very old and heavy touring bicycles. As a result, we could only ride on straight, non-hilly, debris-free paths. Sidewalks and pavement worked best. The lack of hand brakes was a bit disconcerting. Next time, we'll bring our own.

We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area.

Thank you for your review. We're glad your kids enjoyed the always popular weekend cookies!
Our touring bikes are complimentary and our hope is that guests will use them for an easy jaunt around town. We find that those planning more serious excursions bring their own bikes or we arrange rentals from the local bike shop.

We stayed Sept. 1st after taking the 1000 Islands tour to tour Boldt Castle, which we really enjoyed, both the boat ride/scenery and the castle. We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite because we are members of Finest Inns of Ontario! King size bed, amazingly comfortable, fireplace, bathroom was enormous, with a balcony and adirondack chairs. We had a wonderful hot breakfast the next morning, service was excellent and the server very nice. Wish we could have stayed another night!

Room Tip: Don't believe they have a pool but couldn't unclick the button!

Exceptional staff both at check-in and assistance with our bags. This meant a lot to us as my husband has bad knees and walks with a cane, and I have a bad back. We needed the assistance and the wonderful man helped us on the way to our room and back at check-out. We had a lovely room with king size bed at the water's edge. We sat outside our room and on the lawn appreciating all the beauty and serene aspects of the view. We used room service for dinner as we were tired from traveling. Food came in 15 minutes, hot, on a tray with crispy white linen, sparkling cutlery. Food was magnificent. We absolutely loved every moment of our stay, and next time we will book for longer. Highly recommend this hotel. One recommendation they might want to hear, they need to dehumidify the ground rooms due to the hot tub useage. The carpets were damp and needed to be air dried or dehumidified. We opened the windows and door for a while to help with the problem.

Room Tip: I think the only king sized beds are on the lawn area. So if you don't need a king then you mig...
