“Overnight at the Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

They offered a package "any room for $165.00 so we asked for room 220 with a private balcony, king bed, with breakfast and dinner included. Had a good view of water front on two sides plus a private balcony looking west at sun set. Fireplace and bed were of particular mention. Room very clean, fresh wallpaper and very clean bathroom. No fear, Gan water is good to drink. Patio doors were double glazed plus double door to the ample balcony(fire escape). Very secure and very quiet. Lots of free parking. Great looking lobby and old elegant stair cases. They have a spa on site. Meals were ok. We were able to order anything from the menu so we won on that deal. The wings were best I've seen in a while. No shortage of restaurants in town if you are so inclined. Casino close by too. But the center piece of Gananoque is the summer boat tour of Bolt Castle. You need a passport but the trip through the islands is wonderful. Never gave an excellent but came close in this case. For an old gal she is in good stead and well cared for.

Room Tip: Get a discount with a gift card from Costco. No elevator so be ready to climb stairs to 3rd floor ro...

Thank you for your review! Suite 220 is one of my personal favorites. The room is cozy and during the summer months, rain or shine, the covered porch provides a wonderful view of the docks and islands beyond.

We were looking for a nice place to go for supper and overnight stay for Valentines We decided to try out the Gananoque Inn. We stayed there a couple of years ago on a room and theatre package. We also stop there for lunch sometimes. The hotel seems nicer every time we see it. The reception has a large fireplace, nice decor and a very helpful staff. Check in was quick and friendly. The room was a "fireplace king" which had a natural gas fireplace. It was spacious with a couch and chairs near the fireplace. The dinner was in Muskie Jakes bar which was OK. The dining room is only open weekends this time of year. We both had the prime rib and it was delicious. Our server "Colin" was perfect. We mentioned off the start that we were not in a hurry and he brought us our drinks and didn't come back until we signalled. Overall it was a relaxing and romantic evening.

As a Groupon/Teambuy fan I have been staying in a mixed bag of hotels recently. The Gananoque Inn was booked directly with them - no discount, no sales pitch, just Tripadvisor reviews. I had never been to Gananoque before and I know it's lovely in the summer but I wanted somewhere different for my husband's birthday. And I wasn't disappointed. The room was gorgeous.....tastefully decorated, the most comfortable bed and pillows I've ever had, fireplace, large balcony overlooking the river. Touches I love like real glasses in the room (not those crappy plastic things), ironing board and iron in the room (even though I didn't need them), wifi without the need to ask for a password (a pet peeve of mine), and even a special make-up removing flannel!
The welcome was warm and informative and we had booked both dinner and breakfast there too. Dinner was good - not excellent, but good. The service was great - pleasant staff and quick service but the wine list wasn't extensive and was as usual, overpriced. Breakfast was delicious. I had the omelette which was huge and tasty and my husband had the eggs benedict. Far too much to eat, but good.
Our package which included dinner, breakfast, king-size bed/fireplace waterfront room, and a bottle of bubbly in the room was $210. An absolute bargain. We'll be back in the summer.
(p.s. Stonewater pub next door is great too)

Room Tip: We had room 220 - fantastic views and lovely room.

Really enjoyed our New Years Eve at the Gananoque Inn. We enjoyed a four course meal in the restaurant with a nice bottle of wine included with our room. All this with breakfast at a very reasonable price.

My wife and I have celebrated our anniversary three (3) years in a row at the Gananoque Inn and Spa. Our anniversary falls in December, about a week before Christmas. We escape the big city (Ottawa) hustle and bustle for a nice quiet romantic getaway at the Inn. Accommodations are always excellent, the staff are courteous and unobtrusive. A huge king size bed and a jacuzzi tub set the tone for the stay. There is lots to do in Gananoque such as antiquing and shopping in little boutique shops. The restaurants in the area are all very good, especially the Old English Pub. You also can not go wrong with the Inn's own Muskie Jakes.

Room Tip: Rooms with a waterfront view of Lake Ontario are spectacular.

Every year at about this time my wife and I go to the Gananoque Inn just to have a relaxing weekend and once again they did themselves proud. The staff as always were wonderful and extremely helpful. The night caretaker/bar tender is a great guy who always had a story or joke up his sleeve. We stayed in a very nice room with a fire place and a huge veranda which overlooked the St. Lawrence river, what a fantastic view. The food at Muskie Jakes was the normal pub fare but was very tasty. The lobby was very inviting with its large fire place and comfortable seating which made reading a book so nice that i fell asleep for a short time. The location was a perfect distance from the downtown area which only took about 15 minutes to walk to.
A very nice time was had by all. I look forward to returning next year.

My wife and I stayed here Oct 27 and 28th, our yearly staycation in Gananoque.
We stayed in the the Caverly cottage, a short walk from the main inn. Beautiful large suites could have been a little cleaner though. Breakfast which was included was ok. What really stood out was our meal in The Watermark restaurant...absolutely superb! Lamb and rissoto cooked perfectly. Great front desk staff as always.

Thank you for your positive review! Our apologies for any construction dust you may have encountered. As you will have noticed the town is replacing sewer lines in the road just outside Caverly Cottage. We dust daily and can't wait for the project to be finished!!!
