On a visit to Magog with another couple, we planned to have dinner at Cavallini Restaurant where our friends had already gone before. We were well greeted and were offered the choice to either be seated indoors or outdoors. It was a perfect day to sit outside and enjoy the great view of the lake and the mountain. The atmosphere of the restaurant immediately plunged us into memories of Italy. It is elegant and at the same time relaxed. The servers are very professional and knowledgeable of the menu and they were prepared with several suggestions to make our dining a wonderful experience. We started with a mixed antipasto platter of cured meats including proscuitto, speck and bresaola, accompanied by a very imaginative salad that included buffalo mozzarella. And to please us they added some calamari that were very tender, light and crispy . Our main courses consisted of pasta dishes. The ladies enjoyed a plate of two types of pasta which included homemade pappardelle with organic wild mushrooms and linguine with asparagus and a citrus sauce. The men had an incredible linguine with seafood plate prepared "in cartoccio" (in a packet). It was as delicious as it was unique. We also shared a plate of their homemade gnocchi with a velvety gorgonzola white sauce. They were like pillows that melted in our mouths. The dessert also surpassed our expectations. With the choice of several exquisite desserts, our waiter suggested we have a mixed dessert platter that we could share. We had a mousse-like tiramisu, mascarpone cheese cake, chocolate soufflé, and creme brulé.
It was a real treat and a wonderful finish to a great meal. I recommend you take the time to speak with your server and express what you're in the mood of eating. I would not hesitate to suggest Cavallini to my friends. The pictures I added say more than words can express.
