“Overpriced two star hotel with a view”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

Paid $180 a night for a two room suite: one room with two double beds, the second room had a kitchen, sofa and a second sofa with pull out bed. This included two adult lift tickets per day and two food vouchers ($15 off a $75 meal). Oh and coupons for other rentals we never used.

The property is breathtaking, and with a little renovations and elbow grease this place could be a real gem. Of course now we get back to what this property is today:

The rooms are dated and not clean (the pool and spa are gross too). I was also a little shocked that they have envelopes, in more than one place in the room, with "cleaning lady" written on them, implying you "need" to leave money. I felt like leaving them a tip alright: a note pointing out the areas needing particular "cleaning" attention!

The layout of our room was terrible, with no coat closet in the room. They did have an armoire but its so large you couldn't fully open the doors (they hit the end of the bed). Finally we removed the doors from the hinges so we could hang up our clothes. The kitchennet area with sofa bed was nice and having a second 3 piece bath with stand up shower was great with kids. The mold in the corners of the shower was kind of gross however, oh and the jetted tub in the main bath screamed of hidden germs and bacteria.

The beds are rock hard and small, my husband and I opted to let the kids have each a double bed and we slept on the slightly softer sofas.

Now to the good parts: the service was good and the Sunday brunch buffet was probably one of the best buffets I've ever been to and I hate buffets. We went because our friends who were also staying at the hotel wanted to go.

The buffet included lobster, roast beef, waffles, pasta, eggs Benedict, sausage, baccon and a pile of other things, but the most impressive was the chocolate fountain with huge bowls of fruit and the spread of desserts. The raspberry tart I had was simply phenomenal. The price tag seemed steep at first but the quality of the food warranted the price, I think. Especially when you consider the cost of other restaurants in the area. (a family of 4 at the pizza place up the street cost us almost $100, and it was not $100 quality pizza IMO oh and that doesn't include beer because they don't sell any).

While the over all price seemed good at first, because it included the lift tickets, we have concluded this was a bad deal. We will definitely pay a little more next year and go to Tremblant.

This hotel offers good discounts for seniors. The rooms are alright if you consider that it was used a lot by skiers when they had their own slopes. The fitness center is partly run down: only one treadmill was functional but very noisy, no bike was fully operational and the stepper was completely gone. The pool, sauna and whirlpool were satisfying. The place was very clean and the site is beautiful summer and winter. At 80$ a night for seniors, can`t complain

When we arrived at this hotel at 1pm the room was not ready: 4pm is the check-in time we were told. At 4pm, when we came back the room was still not ready: in fact our room was the last one the maid finished at 4h30 (we were there for one night only). We had a bizarre suite which was in fact a regular king room and a studio suite without a bedroom, with access from one to the other in an external hall. The carpets and the shower curtains are really really old and disgusting. The rest is either ugly, old, bland or standard. Even the tvs are square 20 inches misfunctioning duds. The bed was ok and the room was quiet. We did not dare eating there, so we cannot judge the restaurants. It is very sad because the buiding itself and its setting, on a snowy lake, near a good ski mountain, could be top notch if only they renovated. The nearby Esterel has been completely renovated this year, and seems very nice.

Room Tip: Pay a little more for a suite, because standard rooms are small and musty.

My wife and I came here for a ski vacation and found we had great services and good prices for what we wanted to do. We went skiing two days because the lift ticket at the hotel is a quarter of the price then at the hill. We had a good stay in our hotel room and the all you can eat breakfast was great. It had so much to choose from. The hot tub was not hot enough.

The location is perfect, the staff is really friendly, but the rooms are terrible. We even pay an extra 30$ to be upgraded in an executive room, but wow it was dirty, loud and the bed was terrible.

I cannot believe it's consider a 4 star hotel, when honestly the rooms doesn't even qualify for a 2 star hotel.

Avoid at all cost, until rooms are renovated.

Room Tip: change hotel

I went up for the weekend to get away from the city with some friends. Location was just breathtaking. The grounds beautiful. As for the hotel and room..we had a standard room and when we entered it smelt like raid..We went to front desk to ask for an upgrade which we paid $30.00 extra they gave us a suite. It was facing the front of the hotel and it had a balcony. The furniture is outdated and needs remodeling. TV had the box in the back and was updated with the cables because we had switched our technology recently. Dates back to 20 years ago or so. Shower was old. Needs a lot or renovation work. I will not go back there again to stay at the hotel but I will go there for the day to walk around the property and have drinks and lunch.

Room Tip: For a good room you will have to take the Business Level.
