5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2007

I stayed with my husband at the Virgo Hotel in August 2006 (high season for skiing in Argentina). The hotel is very modern, and comfortable, although you should not expect luxury in the decoration. The service was average, but the location is the best in Las Leñas, with a spectacular in-out pool and outside jacuzzi (kids are not allowed after 7 pm in the pool, so it was great for us, a couple with no kids, for a quiet relaxation time after a day of skiing). The staff was very attentive and accomodating. The other great thing was that your skiing equipment was waiting for you right in the ground floor, and hotel employees helped you with your boots and kept your street shoes under your room number. From there, you went right outside to the ski lift, steps from the door of the hotel. That only was worth the stay at the Virgo. Additionally, after a day of skiing, you could relax at the spa, and even book a massage for reasonable prices. And last, but not least, the food, which was really great, and for those with kids, there was all-you-can-eat kids' menu. It was great to have dinner included in the fare, although that prevents you from visiting other places to eat . One great thing was that one night my husband, a sushi lover, wanted to have dinner at the sushi club just in the basement of the hotel, which is highly recommendable, by the way, and I, who do not like sushi at all, was served the regular restaurant's food right there at the sushi club (note that they are even in a different floor, so it was really something to be thankful for). Finally, let me tell you that the rooms are smail, but after a day of skiing I guess the only thing you need in a room is a good and comfortable bed, a hot and potent shower and tv!!!!!!!!!!!! In brief, HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE. The only thing to criticize is the check-in, which is really slow, but I guess there is a good reason for that to happen, since groups arrive altogether at the lobby from the Malargüe Airport, some 45 minutes from Las Leñas. Maybe they should device some kind of express check-in system, maybe done before leaving Buenos Aires...:)

  • Liked — the in-out pool and skiing
  • Disliked — the slow check-in
  • Tips/Secrets — go to the pool after 7 pm, no children allowed. And as for skis, you may try them on at the rental in Buenos Aires, and then ask for them to be left directly at the hotel keep-room, down at the ground floor, for your first day of skiingm, without having to queu to get your rental skis. Or else try the express system at the rental office: you will have almost no queu to get your rental skiis. Equipment is good, so not need to carry your own, except maybe for the boots.
