This was the first time I had stayed in a B&B, and Giselle really set the bar high for other B&B operators.
My first contact with Giselle was a few weeks before visting Drumheller, and at the time I expressed a concern that all her rooms had a single queen-size bed and this might not work for my friend and me. She rang me to inform me that if a second bed was needed, she could arrange for another bed to be brought into the room. This concern for the customer plus the quickness of her reply convinced me to reserve a room at Urban Place.
When we arrived at Urbam Place, we were warmly welcomed by Giselle and her husband. After showing us to our room, she gave us a map of Drumheller and pointed out the many attractions the town had to offer. Once we told her what we wanted to see and do, she suggested the best way we could do it. This was very helpful as her advice gave a clear order to our plan and allowed us to spend our time wisely.
The next morning, my friend and I enjoyed a lovely continental breakfast. The food was delicious and plentiful. During breakfast we had an extremely pleasant conversation with Giselle in which many topics were discussed. We really felt that we were chatting with a dear friend as the atmosphere was so relaxed and pleasant. When it was time to say good-bye my friend and I both received a warm hug from Giselle and a fond farewell.
Urban Place is extremely modern and clean. It is also a bright house. We stayed in a basement room, but as the home is a bi-level with large basement windows, it felt like we were on the main floor.
Urban Place's location is fantastic as it is on a quiet street near the river and a park. It is a short drive from Urban Place to downtown.
My friend and I were both extremely impressed with Urban Place and will definitely recommend it to our friends.
A beautiful home in an excellent location, a friendly and knowledgeable hostess, great food, reasonably-priced, and professionally run. What more could you want from a B&B?
Our only regret was that we stayed only two days and one night in Drumheller. As first-time visitors to this amazing town, we really should have stayed at least two nights as there is so much to see and do in Drumheller.
