“Not so sweet suite...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2011

If you are looking for a suite with separate bedroom as most hotel suites have, look elsewhere. This hotels idea of a suite is a big room with 3 beds. Kind of sucks when you have two young kids who are in bed by 8 and you have to play cards in the bathroom.

We stayed at the Super 8 with our two young girls. We were tired from a long day of driving and were looking forward our pricey room. What a letdown! Tne carpet was fithly - there were large chunks of debris (food, mud?) on tyhe floor. The microwave was covered in greasy fingerprints. The minute fridge was dirty with specks of leftover food in in. The area around the microwave had so much dust I could trace a line in it! The lampshade on the desk lamp was broken and stained. There were cigarette butts strewn about outside of our [ground level nroom] dor. I would not allow my children to walk barefoot in the room.....DO NOT STAY HERE. The room rates are ridiculously high for what you get.

First they screwed up on our reservation and only had one night booked not 2so always double check your reservations. The manager was VERY rude about that & blamed it on us and was very mad when we wanted it fixed. Then when we we checked in the manager was terribly rude again to us.The 1st day we were there our room never got cleaned and she blamed us for it & was ignorant about getting it cleaned. Then our fridge broke down and AGAIN she blamed us and was VERY rude about getting it fixed. We were 2 minutes late for free breakfast and we were told sorry all we wanted was some toast to take to our room & we weren't allowed.Over priced room and when we made a comment about it the manager very sarcasitically comment well welcome to Drumheller. It wasn't just us I spoke to lots of folks standing outside that said had there been any other hotels available with rooms they would've left and cancelled their rooms.I wouldn't recommend this hotel to ANYONE if you want to be treated with respect and talked to appropreiately!!

We satyed at the Super 8 over night while visiting Drumeheller during our trip to Calgary. I would totally recommend this hotel to others. The rooms are clean and are typical hotle style. The hotel pool and waterslide were a big hit with our five year old. The pool was a bit chilly but lots of fun. They even have popcorn in the evening that you can take to your room. Nive exercise room and 2 computers with free internet. The hotel is in the same parking lot as the Ramada and a great deal in camparison. There is also a MdD's, Boston Pizza and a local Irish Style Family restaurant in the parking lot and easy to walk to. The staff are freindly and helpful. The best part is the free breakfast. It has the usual cereal, muffins, coffe and juice, but they also have french toast (cooked you just heat it up) and belgian waffles (batter all ready you just cook them according to directions in the waffles irons. Overall a great experience. Try phoning their toll free booking line and see about deals. I got the Costco Rate and saved about $25. Only thing that was frustrating for us was the kids across the hall who were banging the door to their room at all hours, argh!! Parents were in another room!

Great hotel staff, fresh baked cookies in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Room was huge and had kitchenette with full size appliances. Pool was clean and kids loved it.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2009

We stayed at the Super 8 Motel in August 2009 with our young son. It was everything a family needs - comforrtable beds, clean hotel and rooms, clean pool and hot tub with a great water slide (though the water was quite cold), free breakfast, loads of parking, and a good, central location. Restaurants and other amenities (e.g., grocery store) close-by too. The in-room kitchenette was a welcome addition too, especially when you are staying 4 nights with a young child. I would recommend the Super 8 Motel, especially as I heard that other motels in town have bed-bugs. We went on to stay at a 4-star hotel in Banff at twice the cost, and I can honestly say that this motel was more comfortable! I believe the other reviewers should remember that it is a motel, in a tourist town (therefore, the higher price). I would strongly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Drumheller (and you should - the town and Royal Tyrrell Museum are fantastic).

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2009

The hotel was ok, the pool ok. We had problems with the size of the room. We couldn't put up the play pen and have a place for our luggage. We thought the 180 price tag wasn't worth it. This place was on suggestion from a freind and I didn't take Trip Advisor reviews advice.
