“Nice staff, dreadful rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2006

We did an airport overnight at the Nisku Inn in Feb/06. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout, but the rooms were awful. Our first "non-smoking" room absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke (and had a window directly to the weedy parking lot on the same level).

The clerk explained that some rooms had recently been designated as non-smoking (evidently nobody thought to clean the carpets/drapes). We got moved to a new room which smelled better, but was still grotty. No cover on the boxspring under the mattress, and the sheet was smallish and pulled off the mattress easily. The carpet had dirt, hair, dust in it.

The door did not lock easily, and the room was pretty banged-up looking. There are no opening windows, and the heat control didn't work so it was very hot in the room. I got a fan from the front desk; they said lots of the rooms didn't have working climate controls.

The restaurant food was fine, and the pool area looked very nice. OK to eat at, just don't sleep there.

We needed a hotel close to the Edmonton Airport that offered free parking for the week we were gone. This hotel did & also shuttled us to & from the airport. The room was ok but... if you get a room close to the kitchen, ask to be moved because it was very noisy. We had to get up early (4:30am) & I think I finally got to sleep around 2:30am. The courtyard is dark but the pool was nice & enjoyed the hot tub. Would stay there again but in a different area of the hotel.

Wow, I stayed here 10 years ago and it looks like they haven’t upgraded it since.

The courtyard is dark, humid and dingy....it scares me to think of what may be growing in that moat.

The room was small and basic. The punk in the next room was cranking death metal (the same song over and over) after midnight so we called the front desk. They sent their crack security team over an hour later. Some old guy who said he would continue patrolling the halls. Wow, thanks.

The service in the restaurant was sloooooooow. Food was bland. People chain smoking nearby while we ate. Edmonton needs to catch up with the rest of the country and ban smoking in restaurants.

On the up side....2 minutes from the airport, it also had a cold beer store in the hotel

The Nisku Inn has got to be one of the filthiest hotels I could have had the misfortune of staying in. I have an awful lot of hotel-stay experience, and cannot think of a dirtier hotel.

There was what I thought were maggots on the carpet, but on closer inspection seemed to be dried rice.

Used kleenex beside nightstand.

Hair in bathtub.

Comb laying on floor, left by another guest...i assume.

HORRIBLE HOTEL. And way too expensive. Ive had much more pleasant experiences at the Motel 6!!

Semi-trucks parked outside window with engines running.

I had to endure some aloof waitresses in the restaurant as well.....

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!
