In principle, I have a problem with waiting in long lineups and having to pay for my food at the restaurant. Personally, I believe there are numerous restaurants in the greater Vancouver area that offer fabulous food without having to wait for half an hour to an hour in rainy sometimes windy West Coast weather. Still, once in a blue moon I find myself in Anton’s long lineups. If you’re very hungry and have a craving for pasta, Anton’s food should be able to address your craving easily. Unfortunately, when you’re very hungry you don’t have the patience to wait for an hour. That is what the story is at least with me. 20 minutes into the wait, I regret having caused myself this grief. But, I have to admit 5 minutes after my meal is there, I forget my pain. Everybody will tell you the portions will feed 2 people. Unfortunately, they don’t allow sharing. So, will end up taking food home for the next day or for the kids and it’s still good. I wish Anton would purchase the left or right property, extend the eatery, reduce the portion sizes and the prices accordingly, and hopefully the lineups would disappear with no negative impact on Anton’s bottom line. But, that is not likely to happen!
Past all of these, the food is great but not outstanding. The service is spotty and rushed at times. But that’s all part of Anton’s eating experience. I will probably go back again; wait in line; curse myself; and enjoy the food.
