Pretty cheap place, but quite a way from the waterfront, science world, chinatown...But #106 bus stop is 1 block away. About a 3-5 minute ride down to the skytrain. Then take the skytrain to the tourist destinations (about 20 minutes to waterfront?). If you plan to take the bus to the skytrain, I would recommend you walk past that bus stop to the 7 Eleven about another block away and buy the Day Pass for CAD $8. Bus costs CAD $3.25 and skytrain is about CAD $3.25+. So you can save money if you plan to do more than two rides of bus/skytrain.

Service was pretty good. Front desk was helpful in giving bus & skytrain station location and about Day Pass available at 7 Eleven. It was about 9am and we had a ton of luggage and check-out is 11am, but we don't go to airport (without a car) until noon. Front desk first told us we can leave luggage at front desk, but in the morning they said they have no room and told us to just leave it in the front (in front of the door... ?huh?). But we had about 5 big luggages so they kindly let us put them all back into the room we stayed in and will tell housekeeping to work around them.

The only bad thing about this place is that it's SMELLY! Hallway really stinks and even in the room. Had to keep the "AC" air turned on throughout the night to keep it from being so bad. Room was a bit small and the lights were kinda scary at first when you open it...they sounded like they were bubbling...and the hallway was very narrow (which was hard to get our many luggages through especially with housekeeping who leaves cart in the hallway.

Overall, cheap place to stay in if you are on a budget. Just see if you don't mind the smell and bus/skytrain transportation if no car.

  • Liked — Service (staff members) were pretty friendly and helpful, pretty cheap
  • Disliked — Smelly and small hallway and rooms, not completely clean, pretty far from most tourist attractions in Vancouver.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Keep AC on to help with the smell. Buy Day Pass for use on bus and skytrain.

Let me just say that anyone travelling should not stay at this hotel, it smells, there is hair on the sheets (which I don't think have been washed for months) and the service is worse.

The free brekfast is served in the very small front lobbie and consists of old coffee and stale muffins.

I was there for 5 nights. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the service was freindly and helpful. My only complaint is that it's located in the East end of Burnaby, making it inconvenient and a good distance from the action. But I had a car so it was not a big issue. Bottom line: I'd gladly stay there again and it's the best value I've found.

I stayed here from April 22-29, 2006, and found it to be a pleasant, unpretentious motel. The A/C kept the room pleasantly cool, the front-desk staff was accommodating, and the #106 bus stops one block away. It is in a quiet neighborhood, which is good for sleeping, but it is a 40-minute ride to downtown via the aforementioned bus and the Sky Train. They also offer a free breakfast. The choices were meager, but the donuts and apples were fresh every morning and quite good. Even the house-keeping staff was quite friendly and pointed out attractions for me to see on some days. All-in-all, a great value for your hard-earned dollars and a good place to spend the precious little vacation time you get! I would stay here again if I returned to Vancouver.
