“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2006

Great hotel, the service is impeccable and the staff very friendly. The rest is at Hilton's standard of quality perfect !
This hotel is 2 minutes from the skytrain, you can be downtown in 10 minutes.

The Hilton in Burnaby is your typical new upscale suburban business hotel - cookie cutter and boring, but very clean with a lot of the usual bells and whistles. The neighborhood is typical edge city with high rise condos and office and strip retail - perfectly fine but nothing exciting. The price was half of what comparable quality hotels were charging as summer rates in downtown Vancouver. We didnt use the Sky Train which is one block away, but that is probably the best way to connect downtown. Driving takes 20 minutes or so through some nondescript neighborhoods but is not a big deal. The place is connected to a mall and there are plenty of food options nearby - seemingly representing half of the countries in the world, although its hard to find Starbucks or the obvious chains you might be looking for. Will note that the three pools are a joke - very small - but would be perfect for very young children. We didnt eat at the hotel, but the food did look good. In summary, if you are just looking for quality accomodations and not particularly concerned about style or immediate neighborhood attractions, this is a good way to save some big dollars. Off-season when the rates are lower downtown, the savings would not be worth it

We've stayed here for nine nights and had almost nothing to complain about! :-) Large and clean room, free coffee and newspaper every day and excellent housekeeping.

Only downside about the room: a rather noisy airconditioner and the windows cannot be opened. Be sure to ask for a room on the upper floors for a great view, because rooms on the lower floors face apartment buildings with no view at all! Since the hotel is located nowhere near (noisy) touristic areas, you're sure of a good night's sleep.

With the very efficient Skytrain service, you're downtown Vancouver in about 15 minutes and next to the hotel is a very large shopping mall. Perfect for getting breakfast since that was quite expensive (as well as dinner).

Hotel staff was very friendly and efficient.

Great value compared to the rather overpriced hotels downtown Vancouver!

Recently stayed at this hotel for a Friday & saturday night. I originally tried to stay in Downtown Vancouver but was having difficulty finding a decent room at a good rate, this hotel was a great alternative. Prior to leaving for Vancouver I had to email the hotel for directions from the ferry, which they promptly did. The hotel is very modern and comfortable. We stayed on the 15th floor and had a great view. The skytrain was convenient to the hotel and we stopped at Metrotown for a late dinner/snack in the food court. The only negative for this hotel is that the pool is a narrow lap pool. There is also a small kiddie pool and a very small whirlpool. Overall a great place to stay.

We stayed at this hotel having booked another hotel prior to arrival. The previous hotel was absoloutely dreadful and when we contacted the Hilton duty manager she was able to provide us with a suite, bathrobes on request, and vouchers for the executive continental breakfast for very reasonable costs. Through out our stay this lady was incredibly helpful and could not do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. We found the staff to be exceptionally courtious and helpful..delivering faxes' in the middle of the night etc. Included in our stay was free internet and local phonecalls, a wonderful aid whether you are on business or pleasure. Night time was very peaceful with traffic din almost nil in comparison with downtown. The pool is tiny but clean. The rooms were nicely done, light and airy and exceptionally hygenic. The the cleaning staff are very endearing and chatty.
The restaurant is excellant we were staying for 9 days and immensely enjoyed the gastronomique flair of the chef. The toiletries provided were of good quality and supplied in ample amounts. Should you wish to have a midnight munch a good room service menu is available. As a tourist in BC, it is quite possible to have a shock when your bill is presented...read the small print before you buy or agree to stay. There are taxes on almost everything which can be as high as 15%. Allow for this yourself as it is assumed that you would know that prices quoted do not include these taxes.
The bar is exemplary and nice nibbles are frequently served. This is not a place where you will be comfy in tired casuals. The wine list is good and you must taste the 'okanagan ice wine'...too die for...but lethally potent, one glass is sufficient!
There is a nice outdoor balcony off the bar, perfect to sit and relax if you smoke.
The location is good as there is a huge mall across the road, and the hotel adjoins a small mall which is definetely worth a peep, a variety of aisan shops and foods. there is also a laundrette there as the hotel rates are a tad expensive. The sky train is located in the mall and ensures access to the busier parts of the city. There are also cinemas, banks, kebab shops and of course quality restaurants all within walking distance. At the entrance to the hotel you will find a car rental office and the concierge is a wealth of information and help.
The staff are multilingual and the management is courteous and caring in our experience.
In general a good grown up hotel as I am not sure there are any facilities that children or teens would enjoy.

A great place to dine..suberb restaurant and elegant bar. View from executive rooms located on the 18th floor are dramatic..in comparison to the downtown Hilton in Toronto we found our experience here great value...check out the superb views in the executive breakfast room. Staff are efficient, helpful and most important to myself and my husband...friendly.. We will be taking our teenage boys there in July and I hope that they won't be bored as the pool is ridiculously small...but the busy mall across the road should help as will the access to the 'skytrain'. In general Vancouver is a lively and beautiful city and the location of this hotel allows for quieter, peaceful evenings with a short trip to throbbing 'downtown' activities!

Firstly my wife smokes so stuck on 3rd floor (Canada 4th floor) so view of traffic junction, not the hotels fault I blame the wife. The room smelt very strongly off old smoke due to only ventilation being under room door and vent in bathroom again only partly hotels fault. What I found a bit off putting was the 3 burn marks in carpet, and the room furniture was getting a bit tired (maybe to high occupancy rate due to limited smoking rooms).
The staff were very helpful and the free internet by reception was usefull.
Skytrain very close by, but I felt clad we had a car as its a great asset for sightseeing far and wide, with good road connections around hotel. The hotel has allotted parking under hotel and we always found a free parking space without any problem.
Try Earls left on Kingsway for above average food at good prices aka Cheers.
