The coffee shop in the Campbell River bus station at the corner of Cedar and 13th changed hands recently. But not only the ownership change, the philosophy behind it and the nature of the food also has changed. Andre and Danya, the young ever-present owners, believe in using only fresh local ingredients. Andre still bakes at the popular Steiner’s Bakery, owned by his father, and brings some baked items with him when he opens up The Corner Stop Café. Burgers are hand made and reasonably priced. A gluten-free burger is available. Everything is freshly prepared; nothing is frozen nor pre-packaged. My favourite meal is breakfast and here I get a great one for $7.95 for a full breakfast including coffee. The place is plain and my thought is it could do with some nicely framed posters of old buses or other modes of transportation. The Corner Stop Café is open Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
