“Extraordinary location and great fishing success”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2011

Seldom stayed at such beutiful location, lovely island bay, sunshine allover, beautiful evening lights, great fishing success, restaurant prepared the fish we caught ourselves - what a great service (although it costed some money....but try to ask a Restaurant in Europe to prepare your own fish....)

Thanks for the comments. We're happy you saw success on the water and were able to enjoy your catch. It's a feature we find is popular amoung our guests and we try to accommodate every one we can. We hope you enjoyed the rest of our vacation.

We needed a place to stay at Painters on short notice in the middle of high season and were accommadated with the usual excellant service we have always rec'd when we stay at Painters. It was especially nice that the young lady who cleans the rooms in our building went out of her way to help us when we needed something and all with such a nice welcoming smile. The team that works there all deserve a hand for giving us that ` welcome to our place feeling ' that is so nice to receive when your looking for a place to just relax at and enjoy. I highly recommend a stay at Painters

Room Tip: To get the best rooms we found you just need to ask and Painters will do what they can to accommadat...

We stayed in the main lodge (President's Suite). The room was good-sized, and very clean. Had a nice balcony and great view overlooking the marina. The staff was friendly and efficient. They delivered a fruit basket to our room congratulating us on our anniversary. Well Done! We loved the Zodiac Wilderness trip AND the half-day of salmon fishing. Dining room was good. The free water taxi to April Point runs often, and they have a nice restaurant there too.

We stayed at the lodge for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The lodge is beautifully situated with a nice view on Quadra Island. There is a perfectly organised shuttle service to April lodge at the Island in order to visit the Spa or have dinner at another place. We can highly recommend the Sushi Bar over there. Having dinner at painters lodge was also a good experience since one of us has to adhere to a gluten free diet, which was no problem at all in the restaurant. Overall, staff is very friendly and professional.
The rooms are very spacious and clean and we had a wonderful view from our balcony.

Room Tip: Select a room with sea view

Thanks for your comments about the resort, staff and dining experience. We're glad you had the opportunity to visit April Point and enjoy the sushi bar. Having the water shuttle between the two resorts is a pretty unique feature and we're pleased to see that it is popular among our guests. Hope to see you soon.

If you are an outdoors person, this lodge is the place to stay. Our suite overlooked the water. What a view! The room was very clean. As for the furniture, you must take into consideration the age of the building and its style. It is a rustic type building and so is most of the furniture. The staff was very polite and accomodating. We ate at the bar and in the main dining room. The food was well served and delicious. The men went on the salmon fishing excursion and really enjoyed it. They even brought back fish which was cooked for us for dinner in the main dining room. We also went on the whale watching excursion. The scenery is spectacular. We were just a little disappointed that the provincial laws do not allow the boats to go more than 100 meters from the whales. Do bring binoculars if you plan on going whale watching. All in all, our stay at the Painter's Lodge was a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends.

Room Tip: We had a suite in the main lodge. It overlooked the water, was very quiet and had a private deck...

Thanks for your wonderful comments about the resort, the staff and the dining experience. We're glad 'the men' were able to enjoy a fishing trip and yes, we face some restrictions on our whale watching trips, but we realize that is to keep the population healthy and happy. We hope to see you soon!

This is a large resort with many rooms and facilities but we only stayed overnight. They brought us dinner upstairs in the lodge because I needed to use the internet -- which was much appreciated.

The property is lovely and in a beautiful setting. Having the shuttle over to April Point is a nice bonus. The rooms, however, are seriously dated (like 1970s motels - including the musty smell and water temperature issues, etc.) and there was quite a bit of maintenance that could easily have been and should have been taken care of. Front desk and dining room staff acted as if they had gone through the required training to do their jobs - but lacked any kind of enthusiasm or warmth. Having said that, we can well imagine that this would be a great spot for anyone keen on fishing (we were just travelling through), for conferences and/or groups. On a separate note: we also had some issues with the Oak Bay Marine group and their internet marketing - never responded to an emailed reservation request, but automatically subscribed/added us to their email marketing list...

Thanks for your comments on the resort and the state of some of our rooms. We are continually updating rooms throughout the resort with new beds, carpeting, linens and furnishings to ensure we provide a comfortable experience for our guests.

Your comments about the friendliness of the staff are also important to us. We have very high standards for our customer service and are continually involved in staff training to provide better service. Your comments will be including in our upcoming sessions.

As for your email/marketing response, please send your name and contact information to marketing_coordinator@obmg.com so we can better determine why your initial request received no response.
