“Trip of a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012 via mobile

Having always wanted to get close to grizzlies in the wild and having read the reviews about this trip, we booked our places and then booked our trip to Canada around it. Booking was easy, even by email from the uk. We were not disappointed! The trip was amazing and we spent several hours with the bears. It's a 2 hour boat trip to Bute Inlet, with Gary at the helm who is very knowledgable and takes the time to show us plenty of other wildlife etc along the way. Once we arrived we were made very welcome by Stewie and the team who have an incredible knowledge of the bears and their environment. We spent time in hides watching the bears as well as being able to watch from the river bed as they fished for salmon a short distance away. The guides are very experienced and we always felt safe, and came away wih superb photographs and wonderful memories of our time up close and personal with the grizzlies! There were never any time pressures and we enjoyed a full day's trip, around 10 hours. We also saw seals, sea lions, and around 200 dolphins chasing our boat! This truly was the trip of a lifetime and we can't recommend it highly enough. Would love to go back one day and do it gain!

“Very nice and personal trip!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Garry is doing wildlife tours and grizzly bear tours for years now. He is a really nice man who was the first in doing tours around Campbell River. He has a good relationship with the native community and knows a lot about the animals and the area. Takes time to know his customers and to see the area, never in a hurry, if you find Orca's or dolphins on the way he will take the time to hang around a bit.... The best schipper in town ;>)

“Lifelong dream fulfilled!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Took a trip with Gary to see Grizzly bears! On the way up, we saw Sea Lion, and then to our amazement, around 50 White-sided Dolphins followed our boat for a good deal of the way! We saw 8 bears, 2 mums with cubs the rest single, and we were lucky to be just a short distance away from a huge male bear who just pounced and pulled out a great Salmon! This trip was very well organised, and we were well protected from any danger without feeling 'stiffled'. Gary gave a running commentary along the way, with his local knowledge it allowed us to fully appreciate the area and the communities that live there all year round. They fully support and apprecitae their wild-life, and do a lot to protec their natiral habitat. Long may that continue!
If you want a trip to See Grizzlies, and gain knowledge on the way, then this trip is the one to book!

“An experience to remember”

Garry Henkel does a magnificent job introducing us to the bears in their natural habitat. I loved the pristine wilderness environment and the total respect these people have for the wildlife and the ecosystem.
