Took the 6 hour whale watching tour yesterday. Fabulous! We wanted to go on the Zodiac but went on the covered boat. A very comfortable aluminum boat with nice accommodations and good views from all seats. I sat outside most of the trip, my choice. Our guide was Aaron. A very friendly knowledgable young man as well as a very good boat handler. We headed north through Discovery Passage through a fast running tide up to Johnson Straits in pursuit of Orca sitings. On the way Aaron spotted a Black Bear scavenging on the beach. He eased the boat in close enough for us to watch yet not disturb the bear. The Bear and we moved on. Not much later Aaron spotted a large pod of White sided Dolphins. Using the same technique he set the boat up for us to see the spectacular show the Dolphins put on. Moving on up past Robson Bight we came upon two different pods of Orca Whales. We watched them from a safe and respectable distance. Many photo opportunities were provided. On the way back we drifted and enjoyed a tasty lunch provided. And then the bonus, another chance with the Dolphins.
