“Home away from Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

I was called to work away from home and have never spent more than a day or two away from my family. With a 10 day stint in a town where I know no-one is was intimidating for sure. I was made to feel completely at home at Windborn B&B. The Host and Hostess were kind and warm but allowed me my privacy. The breakfasts were incredible. Something different every day and wholesome healthy food with variety every day. A lovey, luxurious and comfortable room. I am honored to give this review in complete favour....I would recommend this B&B to anyone.....

Thank you for the glowing review. It was our pleasure to host you. I am glad you enjoyed our breakfasts. It is so nice to host guests who have never stayed at a B&B before. Hopefully on any future travels you will try more B&B's.

For the second time in the past four months i visited the Windborne B&B, and the results were super again. My son is playing hockey in Castlegar and this was the perfect place to stay while seeing him and his games. The location is only about a ten minute ride to the rink. Marc and Mirja's place has made my week's visit even more enjoyable. Breakfast is great and living in a beautiful house instead of a cramped hotel room can't be beat. Both owners make you feel as if you are part of their family, and that is a definite plus. I would recommend this for any family or business traveler in the Kootenays. Unfortunately I now have to check out and go home.

We recently did a business retreat here and it was such an amazing experience. Not only is the house and property beautiful, but the service was warm, attentive and the food was delicious! I would recommend this B&B highly.

We spent two days at the Windbourne for a manager's retreat. The communication and flexibility of the hosts was appreciated - from getting a tour of the facilities before we booked, to giving us free reign of the kitchen and living spaces. There was lots of space for "break-out" discussions, and the main room was a great space for meeting for a couple days - definitely better than a stuffy conference room on uncomfortable chairs at an impersonal hotel. Breakfast was great, and we really enjoyed all the artwork. We couldn't actually resist taking a couple pieces home with us. We'll definitely keep the Windbourne at the top of our list of local places to recommend to associates for business retreats, and I know that we'll be back.

We stayed 2 nights at Windborne B&B while skiing at nearby Red Mtn. Our room was very tastefully decorated, roomy and very comfortable. The host, Mark, goes out of his way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. He also cooks a delicious and filling breakfast. Mark is very conscientious and welcomes all ideas/suggestions as to how he could improve - for the record we didn't have any! :) Mark's wife, Mirja, is a very talented artist and several of her beautiful pieces are on display around the spacious and comfortable B&B. The hot tub was a very welcome and muchly appreciated treat after a great day of skiing. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Thank you for taking your time to give us this excellent review. We are glad you enjoyed all our services and you had a great time skiing on both mountains, Red mountain is featured in Powder magazine as one of the best places to Ski in North America. You had the added bonus of 12 inches of snow the night before. We look forward to hosting you again in the future.

We had a relaxed and private two day off-site meeting for our senior team members. Dinner was catered by the Element Restaurant and Marc provided us with a delicious breakfast. I would recommend this site for any business looking for a comfortable setting for a small corporate retreat.

Perfect place for a getaway. Spent two days with Marc and Mirja but wish it could have been longer. Amazing rooms, amazing food, amazing hosts. Mirja's spectacular artwork adorns the expansive but welcoming house and it feels like home from the first time you enter. Marc's culinary prowess makes the eyes widen and the stomach rumble.
