“Once again, a great stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2014 via mobile

Love staying here, love the suites, the pool. This trip was a bit marred by a group of wedding guests throughout the hotel smoking...balconies, pool areas...despite signing a form recognizing it is a non smoking property..otherwise they seemed respectful and pleasant. I understand staff took care of it when notified. I was in the non pool building this time, which is losing the riverview because of tree growth.

Lovely spot, really nice rooms, good service, very good food at restaurant and enjoyed the Spa services. Kitchenette suite was well stocked plus a very comfy bed and nice balcony with lounge chair and table and chairs. Great for the complementary morning coffee.

We stayed in a two king bedroom, two bath suite on Friday night and were extremely impressed! The suite was the size of an apt and had balconies overlooking the pool and river. The beds were comfortable, the property was immaculate. The price was excellent for two couples. We will definately stay here again!

This is a great property! We took advantage of the wonderful outdoor pool which was a hit with our 4-year old. This outdoor space is really the main feature for us with lounge chairs & tables surrounding the pool area.

The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. We were impressed by the bathroom which had a shower and a separate tub. (We had a business class room)

I was nervous about the above ground parking, as it is limited to over-height vehicles but we always found a spot. The area around the property is very busy but the noise was not an issue.

My only criticism is that they did not tell us about the continental breakfast that is offered in the lobby. We would stay again.

We originally booked two studios with kitchenette, but as we were touring Vancouver Island for 2-3 weeks, we decided to upgrade to a one-bedroom unit (paying C$30 dollars more per night) so that we had a kitchen to use for preparing meals rather than eating out. My in-laws decided to stick with the studio suite.

Compared to timeshare apartments we have stayed at in the past, we didn't think that this unit was very well equipped. We bought steaks to cook on our first night and when we opened the oven up there was no grill pan to use, which was quite unusual as previous experience with the big ovens was that they are equipped with one. On contacting reception, I was told that there was a bbq area where we could take our steaks to cook (outside other buiding, at the end of the rear car park), however a maintenance guy did bring us a baking sheet. I pursued this the next day, and the duty manager said she didn't know what I meant by a grill pan, but someone went out and bought one and it was delivered that night to us, again by the maintenance guy.

The in-laws studio suite seemed to have better equipment than we did, ie better knives, provided with tea-towels which we borrowed. We hadn't even been provided with coffee in the unit or a kitchen roll.

The pool area is smaller than we expected, but as we only had time to relax for an hour or so at the end of the day, it didn't really matter but felt that the pictures on the website a bit deceiving.

The tiled floor area in the bathroom wasn't very clean, as we noted that the white bath mats soon became filthy when placed on the floor.

The unit was also the last one along the corridor and we experienced lots of noise from the traffic on the bridge.

A bit disappointed really.

The room was nice, clean and priced decently. Booking was a pain having to go from hotel desk over to spa desk back to the hotel only to be told to go back to reserve our spa appointment times! The services were only okay. Pedicures should be optional of being in a private room or out with other guests. Massage therapist was way too firm! Felt sore for days! Wouldn't return to the spa but would return to the hotel!

We stayed in the deluxe studio king bed room which was luxurious. The furnishings were clean and of high quality. We had a comfortable bed, seating area, a small kitchen and a large bathroom. A small balcony overlooked the pool and the river.
The hotel is within walking distance to restaurants. There is a path along the river perfect for an evening stroll.
Staff were welcoming and I thought this hotel was very good value.
The only down side was that breakfast was located in the lobby with only a couple of couches to sit on. It consisted of cereal, pastries, muffins, juice and tea and coffee. Each time you walked in front of the automatic doors they opened which became annoying.

Room Tip: Chose an upper floor as the hotel is near a busy road.

Thank you for taking the time to Review our Hotel. Our breakfast is usually held in one of our meeting rooms and only moved into the lobby when those are booked for the day. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us and took advantage of the river walk. We look forward to hosting you again if you are ever back in the Comox Valley.
