“Best Hotel Experience in BC yet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2010

Our sons hockey team, all 18 families, stayed at the Days Inn for 6 nights in March 2010 and had the BEST time. We were very happy with the group rate that the staff gave us and the rooms are very clean, and spacious. The hotel is located in the centre of town and was walking distance from the ice rinks and shopping. The pub and restaurant were wonderful.
GREAT STAFF, very FRIENDLY.
We WILL stay here again if we ever venture up to Cranbrook in the future.

In August of 2009, our group, consisting of three people, checked in to the Days Inn Cranbrook, located conveniently on the side of the highway. We did not have a good experience.
We booked through the hotel directly, after looking at their website and seeing photos of a fairly clean, comfortable-looking hotel at a good rate in comparison to other properties in the area. Since we were not looking for anything extravagant, as we were simply passing through Cranbrook on our way to Spokane, we booked a room with two double beds for approximately $110.00 for the night.
Upon arrival, we were impressed with the overall decor of the hotel, as it is apparent that the lobby had been recently renovated. The front desk receptionist, Rebecca, was very helpful in giving us recommendations for local restaurants. Our positive experience simply stopped here.
We were assigned a room on the first floor, overlooking the courtyard/pool area; all rooms either overlook this, or the busy highway, so we were relieved. The room, upon first glance, looked good; however, we eventually noticed how rundown it was, and saw the need for a renovation - or just a good cleaning. The windows for the patio were extremely dirty, the light switches in the room were crusty with built-up dirt, the curtain hooks were loose, and carvings were made in the top of the desk.
The rest of the hotel was nothing special, either. The first-floor hallway sported large stains in the carpeting, used band-aids thrown on top, and the baseboards had bloodstains on them that were dried; you would assume that the staff at the property would see this and clean it, however, no such thing was done during our stay. There is no fitness centre, no breakfast included, and the hot tub was filthy, with dead bugs floating in it, and dirt dripping into it from the ceiling. Additionally, the stairwells were very poorly lit, and one even had a makeshift bed at the top, with blankets and pillows thrown around at the landing. If this is the hotel's appearance to the guest, I do not even want to know what it looks like behind-the-scenes; on second thought, maybe it is a good thing they do not offer continental breakfast!
The morning of our departure, one of the members of the group was attempting to dry her hair, but the hairdryer supplied by the hotel did not work. She called the front desk to inform them, but requested that one not be sent to our room, as members of our group were still sleeping, and she would do without the hairdryer. Moments later, a housekeeping staff member knocked on the door, and was rather loud, awaking all members of our group. On a positive note, the shower pressure was good.
Check-out was fast and efficient, and we could not wait to get out of there.
Overall, we would not recommend this property to anyone. Never before have we experienced a hotel that has so little concern for cleanliness. We will not return to this property, nor will we stay with any other hotel under the Days Inn chain - we'd rather pay the extra $15.00/night to ensure a positive experience.

My family and I stayed at The Days Inn in Cranbrook just after Christmas this year while visiting family. We found the rooms very clean and spacious. The front desk staff were very helpful. When a family member we were travelling with couldn't get into their room after check-in, we called the front desk and the lady behind the desk came right up with new keys for the room. The hotel is in a great location right on the main strip with quick access to all amenities. The price was great! The hotel was offering an excellent deal for travellers during the week of Christmas. Other hotels in the area were charging double for a stay at their hotel. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cranbrook. Our stay was very enjoyable!

Having travelled to cranbrook recently I booked a room at the Days Inn as I have found their hotels in the past have been very pleasant. I was not disappointed with the Cranbrook location. I found the rooms large and clean with plenty of towels. The staff were very helpful in suggesting evening entertainment and dining options. There was plenty of free parking and within walking distance to shopping and the arena. I will definately stay at this location again.

I prefer to book direclty with a hotel whenever possible. When I called to book, I was told that they were busy and would have to call me back....spider sense started tingling. But, I was called back and made the booking.

There is very little and tight parking, assuming you don't want to leave your vehicle in front of the attached beer store for the night. I interrupted the dinner of the lady at the reception to check in...it was greasy fries with gravy in styrofoam and a big ole slurpee. At check in we were told the hot tub was broken. Not a bother as we weren't planning on using it anyway.

There were a few fresh looking spills/stains in the hallway carpets.

The room was nice enough, except our girls kept locking themselves in the bathroom which has never been a problem for us at home or elsewhere before. I'm guessing that this is a common occurance since you can unlock it from the outside with a coin.

The airconditioning was not working. It was 25-26 degrees in the room. We would have slept with the window open, except that it was a patio door without a screen. Between concern about the bugs that were coming in and the girls going onto the balcony, we elected to literally sweat it out. In retrospect, it made sense that the patio door was open when we got to the room. The cleaning staff (and I use that term loosely) likely knew that the AC was not working.

The next morning, from looking down at the pool area, it was clear that it had not been cleaned. There were used towels and garbage lying around.

We found some childrens playing cards (not ours) near the beds. The real pièce de résistance, however, was finding a pair of underwear. If there is an upside to that, I would say I'm glad that it was a little pair of Spidey underwear rather than something else. As far as things not being found by the cleaners, the beds were on solid frames, so things literally could not go under the bed and there is no excuse for the cleaners to not find things left near the beds.

At check out, I wasn't asked about my stay, but volunteered that the air conditioning wasn't working. Reception claimed that they didn't know that. When I mentioned that we found underwear in our room the response to that was silence. I inquired about their satisfaction guarantee but it was clear that the conversation was going to do nowhere.

There was no complementary breakfast offered.

I have stayed at Days Inn many times and places over the years and have always found them to be of good to excellent value and enjoyed my stay. If I were Days Inn, I would cancel, revoke, void, do whatever to prevent this establishment from running under their banner and name.

We stayed here early August of 2009. It was nicer than expected. We had to switch rooms because of a weird smell in the first one, but they tried hard to accommodate. Was annoyed that they canceled their continental breakfast because of the long weekend - wish we would have received a discount.
