- breakfast without tables and chairs in the lobby
- kitchenette is not really a kitchenette. there is no stove, no cutlery, no bowls, ...
- it was may and the swimming pool was empty

+ breakfast with good variety (bagel, toast, english muffin, muffins, cinnamon rolls, orange juice, coffe, hot chocolat, tea, jam, peanut butter, honey, creamcheese)
+ clean room & bathroom
+ enough space for luggage

Very nice motel with newly renovated rooms. Management was very biker friendly. Has cleaning supplies available for the bikes. Price was very good and the continental breakfast was perfect. Will stay here again!

HOTEL:
Lazy Bear Lodge
621 Cranbrook St. N.
Cranbrook, BC, Canada V1C 3R8
www.lazybear-lodge.ca

Our first night away from home was met with an annoying time change, wet weather and a slew of hotels from which to choose. We drove up and down the strip twice, then decided to check-out the Lazy Bear Lodge. The sign boasted new rooms and low rates, as well as being pet-friendly, so it sounded good. And it was.

The manager Jason was friendly and helpful. The room was affordable, super clean, and bed bug-free. It was probably the best value hotel room we encountered during our 45-day expedition.

Because of its convenient location, there was some road noise (as there would be at any hotel on this strip) but the cleanliness could not be beaten. Everything was new including the mattress, towels, flat screen TV, mini fridge and microwave.

If you stay there, make sure you ask Jason for a restaurant recommendation. He directed us to a fantastic meal as well as a great room.

Driving through Cranbrook enroute to Calgary I stopped at the LBL. The owner/mgr was friendly. Rates were reasonable. The motel had an attractive pool area with some bikers who were relatively quiet. The furnishings in our room were dated but the room itself was freshly painted and very clean. A very simple continental breakfast included bagels, muffins, toast, juice and coffee. I would stay again.

My family left Calgary for Nelson and decided to spend a night at Cranbrook. We saw the lodge with beautiful flowers on the highway and liked it at once. The motel's price is the best while their room is not cheap at all. Super clean, very very comfortable beds and very nice shower. We sat on the bench outside of the rooms looking at the beautiful mountains with a beer in hand. It was so nice. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. We will come back next year!

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2009

I stayed overnight at the Lazy Bear for business in September. The price is very reasonable for one night. It is next door to a restaurant which is also quite reasonable in price. The room was big, clean and adequate for my needs. There is a swimming pool one can use in the summer. The only drawback is that is close to the main route running through the city so it is noisy but since most accommodation is also located there they would also be noisy.
