“Fun-filled break in beautiful lodge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

We had a fantastic 8-night break in late June / early July in Eagle Lodge, which was easily spacious enough to accommodate our party of 8. The lodge is beautifully presented and well- equipped, but it's really the serene location and spectacular views that make it extra special. Just a wonderful place to come back to for a cold beer and BBQ after one of the many activities in the area. We tried rafting, ATVs, wetland canoeing and golf all of which were outstanding. Plus Yoho, Lake Louise and Banff are all within easy reach for a day out. Jo and Dave are wonderful hosts and were really helpful - both before the holiday in organising the activities for us, and during our stay. We were all sad to leave.

We were sad to see you leave too, what a lovely group of people we were very happy to host you all. I enjoyed organising your itinerary and gave us a few ideas for trying out the canoe trip as well!

Also pleased to host your second stay with us and hope to see you again sometime. Many Thanks Jo

Every time we need a break from our hectic corporate lives, my husband and I take a weekend trip to Mount 7. The property is a mere three (3) hours from Calgary, but provides all the amenities and natural beauty of any of the finest places we've been around the world. Each of the large, secluded cabins is equipped with luxurious linens, plush bedding, fluffy robes, high-end toiletries, a full complement of pots, pans, plates, dishes, utensils and small appliances, (including a dishwasher, of course). We always grab some groceries, adult beverages and ice at one of the many retailers in town, which is just 10 minutes away, and come home to throw some steaks on the huge outdoor barbecue, crack some cold drinks and kick back in the 8-person hot tub on the deck. The free WiFi, satellite selection, movies and unbelievable views are a bonus. Additionally, the town of Golden boasts some spectacular restaurants, including finer dining at the Cedar House Chalet or ElevenTwentyTwo, more casual fare at The Island or order in pizza from Red Tomato Pies! Got a weekend free in the next few weeks? Months? Book today. Thank me tomorrow.

Always a pleasure to have you and your friends here, sorry the weather was so awful that weekend but maybe it helped with the relaxing and the hot tub in the rain is sweet!

Thanks for the great review, you're awesome!

Many Thanks
Jo

I loved staying at Mount 7 Lodges. It was beautiful, peaceful and serene. I've stayed in Kicking Horse and Golden plenty over the years, and this is by far my favourite accommodation to date. It's tucked away at the base of the mountain, with fresh spring water and stunning views, including the Purcell Mountain range and the owner's ranch with horses. I stayed in Eagle lodge, which was beautiful and housed six of us perfectly. Having bathrooms in each bedroom is a huge bonus when brining a group of people together. Aside from all of this, the owners are personable and lovely, which made our stay even better. Loved it here and can't wait to return.

Did a cross-rocky ski trip and Mount 7 in Golden was sleep location #1. Didn't expect much because we booked last minute and thought for sure we were out of luck on nice places. Were we ever wrong. 5 of us close friends were there for a 2 night stay. We had a shotty rental from enterprise that didn't have snow tires and the lodge was a up a slight hill that the bare all seasons simply couldn't grip. Dave & Jo came running up the hill with a bag of sand moments after we struggled ourselves to push the car up and within minutes we made the climb. It was the perfect Golden greeting couldn't have asked for a better start.
As soon as we got in we were stunned, the attention to construction was amazing, each lodge with it's own character and near everything was thought of to make your stay pleasant however still have the comfortable feeling of being a log cabin. A particular treat was the in-deck private hot tub; nothing like having a cold drink and relaxing your muscles after tough day at kicking horse. We also enjoyed two amazing BBQ meals to add to very pleasant evenings.

The only downside I could see really is it is about a 15 minute drive from kicking Horse so it isn't quite as convenient if you are looking for that ski in / ski out social experience. For us this wasn't a downside because we wanted to spend time just us friends and liked the feel of being out in the wilderness. It also made for absolutely amazing sleeps.

I honestly can't even think of a single reason I would hesitate staying there again. It was affordable, convenient, luxurious, peaceful, and the hosts were nothing short of spectacular. Thanks for the stay Jo and Dave it was truly a treat.

We have recently just wrapped up our stay at Eagle Lodge. Our group have taken many chalet trips over the years and this one was definitely our favourite. The chalet itself is beautiful, the little touches provided by the owners and house cleaner went so above and beyond what we expected. The view is unbeatable, the area is perfect for a group who want a mix of both outdoor and indoor activities. We definitely plan to return and couldnt imagine staying anywhere else!

This was our 2nd stay at Mount 7 Lodges during our trip from the UK.
Why did we come back ? - because we love the location, love the accommodation and the hosts (Dave & Jo Best) are just brilliant.
We brought all the family over for a Christmas in the snow to remember - all 10 of us (including our 2 grandchildren babies). We knew the Lodge (Eagle Lodge) well from our summer 2012 stay and it was big enough to cope with 8 grown-ups and the 2 babies.
The finish & equipment of the lodge is brilliant and it coped with a large family staying over 11 nights with no problems.
Jo & Dave even cleared the fire pit for us so we could use it for sitting out on Christmas day - toasting marshmallows.
You really can't go wrong staying here - the views are stunning!

I highly recommend it and plan to return again soon during our next vacation to the Rockies.

Room Tip: Upstairs room are warmer during the winter months.

Absolutely amazing, Stunning and beautiful. I'm sitting in bear lodge right now wishing I never had to leave. Beautiful views, beautiful lodge and such a wonderful dog who keeps coming to visit me at the front door(her name tag says gypsy) and I just love her! I will be back again and again. The lodge is super clean, super cozy and just fabulous. I am only 27 but feel the 2 days I'm here in living the golden life, in golden. 5 stars and worth every dime.
