Due to my new-found love for skiing, from the East Coast, I heard all about the West Coast mountains. So this winter I planned a skiing trip with my friend hitting all the big mountains in BC. First stop, Manning Park. After some researching, the costs to stay at the manning park resort was too high with our tight budget as is. The resort site shows the closest town is Hope (approx. 40 mins driving). So after spending some time on trip advisor, we found the motel what my buddy and I call "the home away from home". Park Motel was #1 (presently as well) so we decided to stay two nights there. Thank god we trusted the reviews and ratings. The motel really made us feel at home - away from home. The room we stayed in (#12) was spacious, clean, had all the amenities you would expect (microwave, flat screen tv, coffee maker, fridge), comfy bed, and had a very "home-y" touch to it. Wi-fi was free and fast, the motel is close to the highway for quick in and out access for those who are just making a quick pit-stop for a night. In comparison to any motel/hotel I've stayed in, Park Motel offered the perfect environment to relax and recuperate.
In terms of staff, Peter and Janice Park, are the ones who really make you feel at home and at-ease. From the moment you enter their property until you're seeing the motel sign in your rear view mirror, Peter and/or Janice (possibly their beautiful collie Ria as well), are greeting you with heart warming smiles and bidding farewell and safe travels. Peter, the owner, prior to us arriving (we gave them an estimated time of arrival) had already gone into the room and turned on the heat so that as soon as we checked in and entered our room, the room was already warm for us. Also, noticing the skiis and snowboard in the back of my truck, Peter was quick to give us directions to manning park and also pointed a few other tourist attractions. Unfortunately, due to time constraints in our agenda we couldn't explore the other attractions.
All in all, after long days on the mountain, the Park Motel was the perfect place to wind down, relax, and recuperate at night. I hope in the near future that I return to BC and if I do, I can guarantee that I will stop by Park Motel even to just say Hello!!
