Nelson has become one of my favorite 2 to 4 day getaways, being less than 3 hours from my city. Last summer (2003) my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Heritage, having seen it on our previous visits.
The first thing is the heat - my boyfriend has to have a cool room to sleep, and he was miserable with no air conditioning. Obviously this would not be a problem if visiting in the winter for the fabulous skiing. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was clean combining the established architecture and the modern facilities. Sparce furniture, but what more do you need than a desk and a television?
The free breakfast, served in the in-house restaurant, was more than just juice and toast, with a choice of about 5 (?) combinations of eggs and meat, and one veggie friendly which I appreciated.
The place was busy, and the tiny elevator was a tad slow, and a little creaky, but safe enough.
Location is excellent, 2 blocks from the main drag - not that Nelson is a huge town - and on the main street to eventually take you to the strip mall.
Will stay here again, if not from June to September.
