“Skip the turkey at a group event”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2014 NEW

Dined with a group of about 80 who chose Tigh-Na-Mara for our Christmas luncheon based on its beautiful setting, ambience and good dining reputation. We were not disappointed with the first two aspects. But, imagine our surprise when , I was later told, that Tigh-Na-Mara had subcontracted the catering! I don't know if the organizers knew that an outside kitchen was doing the food preparation but the "Christmas turkey" seemed to be from a turkey roll which had obviously been precooked well before our arrival and was dry, unusual tasting and served slathered in gravy. Ham was presented in the same way. Definitely not a chef carving a real bird! While some other dishes were definitely acceptable, the quality of this 'turkey' meal was so far below what would be expected at such a lovely, upscale location , that management there might like to rethink this method of serving groups! We appreciated the staff and the ambiance but won't be back for any more group events!

“Nice Atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2014

I dropped in for a quick bite and a beer after checking in after a long day of travel. The service was friendly and prompt, but I wasn't expecting the 'diner-style' table setup, with salt/pepper/vinegar tray. The IPA was good as was the chowder, although a little fresh pepper would have been nice.

“Great Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2014

We dined here three times over our three night stay at Tigh-Na-Mara - brunch, lunch, and dinner.
Sunday brunch was the best meal I had out of the three. I had the salmon and Brie eggs Benny and it was fantastic. Highly recommend it.
For lunch I had the seafood chowder and enjoyed that as well.
I chose the Wellington for dinner and was disappointed. The pastry was a bit soggy and I found overall the dish was lacking. I've had much better wellingtons elsewhere.
The servers at this restaurant deserve recognition. We had consistently terrific service at Cedars.

“Generally Fine but not quite Exceptional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2014

I've frequented the Cedar Room at Tigh-Na-Mara several times over the past several years. The food and service are generally fine however I'd say that it often falls short of exceptional. Consistency appears to be somewhat of a difficult target for the Cedar Room to nail down and the menu tends to lacks any sense of originality or sensational flair. The décor is ok but somehow fails to fully attain that intimate element of romance while other seating's just feel.....cold.
I'd qualify the Cedar Room as a nice place to dine occasionally, if and when you just want to mix it up a little bit.

“Family Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2014

Had a family breakfast at this restaurant and it was quite enjoyable. The service was very good and the food was good. Generous servings. The only quibble was one meal, the eggs benedict, was sent back as the eggs were a little too firm. All the other meals were fine.
