Dined with a group of about 80 who chose Tigh-Na-Mara for our Christmas luncheon based on its beautiful setting, ambience and good dining reputation. We were not disappointed with the first two aspects. But, imagine our surprise when , I was later told, that Tigh-Na-Mara had subcontracted the catering! I don't know if the organizers knew that an outside kitchen was doing the food preparation but the "Christmas turkey" seemed to be from a turkey roll which had obviously been precooked well before our arrival and was dry, unusual tasting and served slathered in gravy. Ham was presented in the same way. Definitely not a chef carving a real bird! While some other dishes were definitely acceptable, the quality of this 'turkey' meal was so far below what would be expected at such a lovely, upscale location , that management there might like to rethink this method of serving groups! We appreciated the staff and the ambiance but won't be back for any more group events!
