“Average with an Upscale Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

A group of ladies were celebrating a birthday and chose the Cedar Room for lunch. Because it was a special occasion, we wanted something a little fancier than the local burger joint. As we were celebrating, we ordered chocolate martinis which were lovely, but the $12.95 price tag seemed a little steep. The lunch menu was adequate, but there were only 2 salad choices. Most of the ladies ordered paninis. Note - the seafood panini is actually a grilled sandwich. The food seemed to take quite a long time to arrive. The quality and flavour of the food was fine, though presentation was somewhat lacking in my opinion. Considering the prices they are charging, I just think a little more attention to detail is called for. As we were celebrating a birthday, the dessert selections were brought out for our birthday girl to choose a complimentary dessert. She chose the peanut butter pie, which she graciously shared, and it was fabulous!
The bill for lunch, for 2 of us, including the chocolate martinis, was $75, including the tip. Good thing we didn't go for dinner..... In short, the Cedar Room is pretty average, but with upscale prices.

“Hire some staff!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Beautiful Resort. Very rustic yet clean. Ocean views are fantastic as is the atmoshpere. Thats the good stuff. Now for the rest...

Saturday evening - Went to the Copper Lounge for a light supper and drinks. Took 15 minutes for 2 drinks to arrive after we ordered them. ONCE, we we asked again if we would like another drink. We received our first drinks, then dinner arrived (average at best) and once a different server asked if we would like another drink. We were in this lounge for almost 2 hours total.

Sunday morning - waited for the breakfast "rush" to end and went to the Cedar Room. A few others were ahead of us waiting for a table. Twice we were all told it would only be "5 minutes-tops!" This was said twice. Actual time...1/2 hour! One persone from the other group waitng actually walked into the restaurant to check things out and approximately 1/3 of the tables were in use. So either some staff didnt show up for work or they dont have enough staff on duty. The server was on the ball though. He was checking in regularly but not enough to be a pest. He was good.

Breakfast.. -I ordered "Vancouver Islans Traditional Breakfst" - Sausage and 2 eggs, toast and potatoes. (a basic breakfast thats hard to screw up and it was good!) My girlfriend ordered the "on the Go" sandwhich. The she had tea, I coffee, and each an orange juice. Total for the bill not counting tip...are you ready...$50.06 WOW!

After breakfast we took in the Grotto Spa. Beautiful place. We did the mineral bath which I would do every day if I could. Absolutley fantastic!

So - stay for the comfort and atmoshpere as well as the spa. When your hungry - go somewhere else to eat and drink.

“Lovely Dining Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

A lovely rustic and comfortable dining room with views of the resort. There was a wide selection of dishes that were cooked to perfection and service was good.

“Probably the best Sunday brunch in town but could be improved with fresher seafood!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012 via mobile

Nice place to take the family, particularly young grandchildren who were charged $1.00 per year of age. The omelettes and egg dishes were good and the dessert assortment excellent. Food is nicely presented. The seafood was disappointing and the price high. If the seafood was better it would have been a better value.
